Despite Dembele's pace he can't get in behind defenses with clever off the ball movement. He always wants the ball to his feet.

I've seen Dembele make many runs behind defenses in games, Did it often when played as a 9 under Koeman but missed many chances (a great example is the PSG game), so I think he can still do that even though he loves getting the ball to his feet.

My problem with him now is that he passes too much, he should try to go for goals more often.

Mbappe probably can, but you're right.

He won't because Davies plays as a Left Back and Mbappe is the most comfortable at dribbling through the left flank or central left channel. On the right wing against Davies, Mbappe would be far more limited.

Adama Traore would be a better bet imo.

It looks like davies took his confidence

It was more of Raphinha against Davies in that game, and Raphinha couldn't get past him but was beaten by Davies a couple of times. The funny thing was I don't remember Davies getting past Dembele when they switched, but Dembele got past Davies and was supposed to be awarded a penalty

He'll never get the better of Davies.

Dembele's biggest strength is kicking the ball into space and flying past the defender.

And no one can beat Davies in a running competition. Davies will bully him offensively and defensively every time in his sleep.

I don't recall Davies doing anything offensively when Dembele switched to that wing, maybe there was a change in shape but Davies is a beast for anyone offensively.

Now, it's not like Davies is Maldini Defensively or something.

Actually he's pretty mediocre in the pure defensive aspects. He was converted into an LB. He's naturally a winger.

It's just that the guy is so insanely fast and Swift that even if you beat him he recovers in no time and gets where he needs to be in time.

Insane, borderline unfair running power.

Davies is a force of nature. Don't get why he plays as a left back, he looks deadly as a winger.
Semedo still has nightmares of him.

He has been incredible in a lot of games for the last 8-9 months, but if he want to be regarded as a true World Class winger he need to start performing in big games like Vinicius does. Was a complete non-show vs Bayern where the only thing he was good for was giving possession back to them apart from that one penalty situation.

He looked very insecure vs Bayern. Gave them way too much respect. Not ejough killer.

He turned up in tough games when he was in Dortmund (in UCL and their league) so I know he has it in his locker. Now back to the present, players have off-games and all our forwards were poor against Bayern so I'll give him a pass, plus he has turned up multiple times aginst Madrid so i'll wait till the second leg against Bayern. On a side note, Vini also has off-games in tough matches, so it still happens to top players.

should utilize his speed more like Vini. one-two and he's off. just put it behind the line and you know he's there. simple stuff but damn effective when you've got the speed.

Yeah we stopped using him like that since Xavi. Hope he incorporates that later down the road.

He's a shit receiver unlike Vinicius. Was glaringly obvious when Koeman used him as a "striker".
