Pep Guardiola tells Dortmund's Sebastian Kehl: 'When you're 35 points behind, you better be quiet'
Guardiola has hit back at Kehl's comments about Bayern needing to "practice" penalties.
Pep: “My advice to Kehl is: When you are down by 35 points, it’s better to say nothing.”
Pep Guardiola has launched a stinging response to Borussia Dortmund midfielder Sebastian Kehl's jibe about Bayern Munich blaming referees.
The Bavarians lost their German Cup penalty shoot-out on Wednesday, failing to convert any of their four spot-kicks, but felt hard done by about several penalty shouts of their own throughout the clash.
Kehl advised Guardiola's side to practice penalties following their defeat instead of blaming the match officials.
"If Bayern can`t take penalties, they have to practice them," said the 35-year-old midfielder.
"I think that it`s crazy Bayern now try to put the blame on the referee. They`ve done it quite often when getting defeated by us."
Guardiola, whose side won their third straight Bundesliga title at the weekend, responded by reminding Kehl exactly where Dortmund currently sit in the league table.
"I have some advice for Kehl: when you`re trailing by more than 35 points (in the Bundesliga), you should shut up," he said, a finger in front of his mouth in Friday's press conference.
"Now we have time to practise since we're already champions."
