Quique Setien

Fucking lol at those people saying EV was a savior and that we somehow badly miss him. We dropped points in like 5 away games in a row to start the season under EV. This is just par for the course.

The problem in the team is due to the culture and the roster. Way too many players relied on who are on the wrong side of 30, injury riddled players like Dembele/Umtiti. The motivation and competition in the squad just isn't there and the rise of "Club de Amigos" has created a toxic, lackadaisical atmosphere where they are happy to play as shit as they want to without any push from the coach or any fear of losing their spot (even if they shouldn't even be near the starting 11 in the first place). Valverde gave birth to the Club de Amigos and fostered this kind of culture.

Setien is just another milquetoast, spineless manager with very few ideas and the ones he does have he stubbornly adheres to like a dogma. Talked a lot of shit about making training and focus more intense and yet he still had no balls nor desire to challenge the core of the dressing room. Instead, he fawns over them as a coach even like he did when he was just an admirer.

Ten Hag is a pipe dream, it would be a blessing to have someone foreign and fresh who isn't historically a doormat for the Hollywood players in the team but instead a leader.

Honestly, I would gladly take Lucho back any day.

He at least was a leader, set up the team based on a meritocracy and would NEVER have allowed the players to become this lackadaisical without accountability. Also he was tactically flexible and was quick and clear to recognize mistakes in the starting 11 or in the tactical setup as a whole and was willing to adjust. His desperate attempt at a 3-4-3 in his last season despite having a horrible midfield/defensive roster showed that he was at least willing to try to make things work if the plan A wasn't up to par. Also didn't slack off with training intensity.

Erik ten Hag and maybe Donny van de Beek, that is what I would do. QS, unfortunately, does not deserve another season.

Both can't challenge the seniors.

My nomination before and now is either Gallardo or Poch both learned under Marcelo Bielsa. Gallardo has a Simeone-like strong personality. We need an intolerant coach with a four-foot hickory club in his hand to straighten those motherfaker entitled players.

The last 2 coaches we've had are buried in the mentality of "I'm just happy to be here".

EV didn't think critically as a manager whatsoever. Just a bunch of "it is what it is", completely aimless and lethargic training sessions while he stared blankly off into the distance, a complete and total inability to recognize the flaws of the team in bad performances and just putting out the exact same lineup and system the game after. Happy to be a friend and not a coach, as the best thing that ANYONE ever had to say about him at Barca (and even at Athletic before he came here) was that "he's a great, kind guy".

Setien also has that "just happy to be here" mentality in spades. He was confused and thought he won the lottery by even getting this coaching job and basically said as much. Fawns over the Barca players like a fanboy so of course he was never gonna have any real authority or will to challenge them.

We don't need a coach that's "just happy to be here". We need a coach that steps in and says "I belong here", and then immediately sets the tone in authoritative way. They need a clear vision and set of ideas from day 1, foster competition and a hierarchy of merit and earning your place.

Lucho did that in 14/15, that's what we badly need right now. Gallardo isn't a bad shout either given his success and reputation, but I don't know much about the football that his team plays.

Not firing EV after Liverpool loss was our biggest mistake. We could have a good manager in the summer but no, we end up fucking the season with a last-minute call for a guy who was happy farming onions. I rate QS hire but he is such a pussy like our previous manager.

Think the will has to be from the top in general mate.... too many players having too much control has always been our problem so the change has to start from the top ( i.e. board--> get rids of the likes of Pique, Rakitic, Busquets etc.) and finally coach imo... you can change the coach how much ever you like but you cannot turn complacency around... This board has in general been in the appeasing the messi band wagon since he makes the most money for them..

The board is the biggest necessary change of all, for which we have to wait until next year. I swear, if these braindead socis somehow vote Bartomeu back in I'll lose my mind.

That age old idea that "the socis are the real fans, everyone else is bandwagon" is so delusional and arrogant it's hilarious. They don't act like fans, they act like shareholders. And as long as Bartomeu balances the books and keeps us financially healthy at the cost of the sporting project, they'll be happy as their investment is made good on.

For once, they better step up and do what is right. An entire change of the board and administration/management structure is EXACTLY what is needed to catalyze a large scale culture change within the club, which would lead to big roster changes as well.

I honestly think he’s completely powerless when it comes to this team. His recent interview showed that. He’s just a front man for Ratomeu.

If you all think that this season is bad just wait for the next one. Things will get even uglier until they start to improve. Our starting 11 (with Pjanic) will be way over 30. Messi is starting to slow down. Furthermore, we have a mediocre manager and horrible management. With all that in mind we can't hope for anything good in the short term.

Unfortunately, we have wasted the last 2-3 seasons when the best time for rebuild was. Now we will rebuild while watching Madrid win more titles and we end up with no trophies. That's what you get for having a board with no vision who hires yes men as managers.

I don't care if next season we go trophy-less. Rebuild this team because the veterans will only get worse. They already can't run and apply pressure more than 45 - 60 mins.

Agreed. Two back to back empty seasons with no titles will at least get us rid of this vision-less and incompetent board.

Suarez on away form "You'd have to ask the coaches to analyse these situations, we give everything on the pitch. We are dropping many points away from home, which we didnt do in other seasons."

Their best doesn't cut it anymore in terms of speed, athleticism, stamina etc. Maybe they will have 1 more season with a La Liga win, but I doubt it. There's a conversation to be had if it's not maybe better for this board to not win a single title before elections time. To be sure they are out.
