Rijkaard or Guardiola ?!?!?!?!

got to be rijkaard... this is still basically his team... two new fullbacks (one bought by him) which play the same way as the 06 team... he was the one who truly made xavi from a very good to a great player... he was the one who picked up and nurtured messi... improved puyol greatly... brought up iniesta too... basically its the same formation, guordiola has just come in... if three years from now this team does so well, then pep over frank, otherwise never...

Yes but in his last 2 years didn't get anything out of them, Pep came in and just put the foot down. It is a wee bit premature but if Pep keeps this up we won't be far behind Madrid in terms of trophies.

Yes I agree with Viva and Galning, it's too early at the moment and we have to see how Pep does. At the moment it would be Pep purely for achievements but we'll see. Hopefully it stays that way

Based on what I've seen, Johann Cruyff built the team. Rijkaard was using his system word-for-word.
But, Pep is using a different but similar system to Cruyff. Same formation but with the Catalonian flair (or is it flare?). Rijkaard had a very liberal team system, while Pep's is much more systematic (and bureaucratic a little). Xavi was both their main playmaker, but the other CM (Deco or Iniesta) had a much more different role in the different systems. Iniesta-Xavi is a simple static-dynamic relationship in Pep's system, while with Rijkaard, he played Deco as almost the 2nd orchestral guy, which separated the teamwork between Xavi and Deco.
To sum it up, Pep's system works better.
