Bale at his best was just better. He was a total menance. Could win games on his own with freak moments.

Robben more technically skilled though.

Put Robben in the crap Wales team and do they qualify for Euros for first time in their history, then do it again? or qualify for World cup for first time in 60 years? No.

He did this so many times, I lost count.

Bale is a bigger match winner on his day. Some of the 1 man shows he pulled off for Wales and Spurs were crazy. KingLeo10 Yannik agree or not?

He's also got more tools than Robben. He's better defensively, better crosser, better header and had a stronger right foot. Also an excellent Free Kick and Corner taker.

Robben is more of a one trick pony(although absolutely unstoppable at that).

Yes, but Robben's whole 2010 CL campaign was a one man show. In 2014 he was the best individual player next to James. WC 2010, CL 2012, 2013 etc it was not always "just him". Ribery was there at Bayern, Sneijder was there at the Netherlands. But neither teams would have made it so far without Robben. That being said Wales wasn't only a one man show either. Ramsey or Allen were insanely good in that 2016 EC.

I believe in quantity Robben had vastly more big matches than Bale. But Bale had more decisive finals, I'll give him that.

But those are niche tools, except maybe for the defending part. It's like saying Ronaldo is more complete than Messi cause he jumps higher, or has a better trained weak foot.
Robben still creates, dribbles and shoots better than Bale. He is vastly more complete in the core areas of a winger and the lack of weak foot essentially made him the player he was, with that unioque trademark cut in that he was so feared for.

I will also add to Yannik's points that Robben when he was on, had an attacking domination to his game that you see with the likes of Messi. Dribbling, goalscoring, athleticism, passing/crossing. He was just a complete attacker. The one trick pony is overstated because while the end result was mostly a cut in and left foot curler, he had multiple ways and multiple angles from which he got the shot off.

It's a shame he wasn't a good finals performer. Or he would have been a Ballon D'Or winning player even in the peak Messi/CR7 era. He was great at getting his teams deep into competitions though, as Yannik said.

Ronaldo is indeed more complete than Messi.

Peak Ronaldo was arguably the most complete attacker there has ever been. And that's just objectively factual. No bias in that.

Speed, Strength, Dribbling, Tricks, Goals, Assists, Free Kicks, Pens, Weak Foot, Ridiculous Long Shots, Aerial game, Crossing, Positioning, Movement. Ronaldo excelled in each of these qualities at the same time. Name another attacker who was as complete and well rounded.

Robben is not a good crosser at all. His passing game is good but not elite. Ribery was the elite creative force for Bayern. Robben's main strength was dribbling and shooting. He was also very selfish and went for shots himself. Him and RL9 weren't fond of each other for that very reason.

Not a very well rounded attacker in terms of qualities.

Crossing isn't a niche tool for a winger. Neither is heading niche for attackers. Both are very important and highly valuable in the sport.

Not to turn this into a CR7 vs Messi, but I would say CR7 is the more complete goalscorer while Messi is the more complete attacker.

For me, attacker means goalscoring + playmaking

CR7 has more tools for an attacker.

Messi is more specialised and consistent in his narrower skill set. Always been a top dribbler and goalscorer. As he got older, his playmaking got better.

Ronaldo followed the opposite path. Started as a traditional winger in a 442, was a terrific crosser. As he got older he became more and more of a goalscorer.

Let's keep this to another thread though.

This thread was a CR7 wank thread in disguise. You have your mind set up on Bale being better than Robben, and are just using Bale as a CR7-lite (as you already alluded to in one of your posts) to accomplish your real purpose

Nice try

"As Messi got older his playmaking got better"

You see the 2 assists he gave Villa in the 5-0 Clasico in 2010? (at the age of 23) He was clocking 20+ assists a season ever since he began winning Ballon D'Ors, which was at 21/22

Temptation with shit takes. A tale as old as time...

He's a young Liverpool fan though so might give him a pass. Not like he's used to watching greatness. Muh Virgil van Dijk best CB of all-time.
