Ronald Koeman

Team badly lacks pace, power and height.

Dont need to be the next Stoke but those elements need added.

Becoming a bit of a caricature of a Barca team by focusing everything on technique.

Alaba seems impossible but he would be useful and Emerson needs to be given a chance to develop, Araujo has to be given chance as starter and bring in likes of Wijnaldum.

Look for a more powerful LB as well although no idea who is out there could get in for that.

Everyone is aware the squad isn?t nearly good enough and chases an outdated style but...

Actually choosing to start Pique Lenglet CB pairing after Pique has been out for months. Playing Busquets ahead of them knowing these 3 in combination are awful against big teams or any team with a bit of pace shows how flawed Koeman is.

It?s like a bad dream happened because I can?t fathom why a manager would start with that 3 who are so accomplished in failure when playing together

Any theory as to why tiki taka died?
My theory is that that was a new revolutionary way of making the opponents tired (especially second halves) because of the amount of running opponent have to run.
But, with the advent of coaches like mourinho and especially especially Simone (later on klopp) players nowadays are conditioned to run after those empty passes for eternity without even running out of stamina.. I noticed that especially vs atletico madrid (at least klopps teams have some possession) They just chase the ball with intensity until the final whistle, no problem.
In my opinion, the seniors of barca since they are dinosaurs who failed/refused to adapt, somehow still aim to make empty endless passes "to make opponents run". As one sees its literally useless now.. Anyway that's what I think.

The point of tiki taka isn't to make opponents run and get tired but to provide and create overloads by getting the opposing team out of position. You need to be able to move the ball quickly and accurately while also constantly moving; It's also about controlling the tempo of a game as well as having a wide range of passing and the vision to be able to execute those passes.

The issue with the seniors is that they're no longer physically capable of playing at speed for long durations of the game so they prefer to play much slower. This ends up in resulting in nothing but sterile possession for us and an oppurtunity for our opponents to counter.
The other issue is that it requires all the players in the system to be suited to a specific type of system.
Those that think peak barca team wouldn't wipe the floor with every team out there today are clueless about football.

Barca in "big games" this season:

- lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in LaLiga
- lost 1-0 to Atleti in LaLiga
- lost 3-0 to Juve at home in UCL, game that decided who wins the group
- lost 3-2 to Athletic in Supercopa
- lost 2-0 to Sevilla in Copa del Rey
- lost 4-1 to PSG in UCL

for this reason alone, koeman has to go.

we can talk about being unlucky, not having the players he wants etc. but in the end, we crumbled in every decisive game this season.

february will end and with it all our hopes of competing for something. we'll have 3 full months of playing for nothing.

I'm a bit disappointed in him. Not so much with the result, but with the tactics. It looked like some half-arsed sitting back to avoid them countering. Barca was never and never will be a team that can sit back and come away with it. Players are not used to it. He already tried it against Madrid and it didn't work.

He showed way too much respect for PSG and did tactical adjustments that were not necessary. Why not playing with the same tactical approach like in other games? I can live with losing 1-4 with PSG making good counters and scoring from them. I can't live with losing 1-4 through sitting rather deep, giving PSG the ball and let them do what they want. No proactive attacking, no proactive pressing, no trying to control the game in midfield. We've seen against Juve and Madrid that this doesn't work. We've seen it at Anfield way before Koeman's time.

I wouldnt mind him for another year. Its more important that the new board is brutally honest in regards to our players. I am more excited for some exits than new transfers. At least Koeman has proven that he trusts youth.

Fuck it, make this the lineup (for the rest of the season at least):

Mats
Dest-Araujo-Mingueza-Roberto
Puig-Frenkie-Pedri
Dembele-Messi-Griezmann

IDGAF, Alba, Pique, Lenglet and Busquets should never play another game for Barca.

Go all in on the remontada vs Sevilla, that's our only slim shot at getting anything this season.

Come summer, bring some players in. CB, LB, DM, striker, maybe another forward. Try to ship Griezmann.
