Sandro Rosell

There is a potential Eto'o and Henry leaving in 2010, so two new additions, stars, wouldn't be that odd. I think I read somewhere, that Pato was a target for Rosell, that, I wouldn't mind.. But let's see what his plans are

Pato and Benzema were his targets last year

yeah Pato would be amazing to have in the team but I don't think he will leave Milan for a couple of years, after all he is already playing for one of the greatest club in football

Well Rossell is playing the press like a puppet, SPORT today carries more detailed news of what will be in Sandro's manifesto and in all honesty it's pretty good stuff:

1) Regeneration of the first team squad given that many of the most important players are now over 30.

2) Revise the remodelling of the Camp Nou that Norman Foster is due to carry out and change it for a renovation of the stadium's appearance and space to make it more modern and functional. No to the sale of the Mini Estadi

3) Demolish the Palau which is obsolete and not up to the standard required and replace it with a modern arena.

4) Give Barça Atlètic all the necessary resources to gain promotion and establish themslves in the 2ª A.

5) Revise the complete structure of the youth system and make it, through cooperative agreements, into one of the best in the world

6) Construct a sports medicine centre with specialist that would make it a world leader

7) Improve and expand the Ciutat Esportiva.

Thanks CA.

#1 is subjective. Having older players is very important. We dont want a squad of youngsters. Sylvinho has shown how important older players are to the incoropration of younger players (eg messi). Henry has been instrumental this season as well, and rafa has at least a season or two left in him. On the other hand, others may say the aged players bring down the 'zest' of the squad.

#2 i dont agree with (except the sale of the miniestadi). It will be good for the city to have a vacancy of jobs for a certain amount of time, but the money spent on the new stadium seems unneccessary. Lets get out of this economic slump first. Then we should look at rebuilding the stadium. Even if it takes 10 years. Are the facilities really that bad?

Ill be honest and say #3 doesnt bother me.

#4 is a nice thing to say but needs more details.

#5 needs more explanation as well. Our youth structure seems very adequate as it is. I would be interested just what these "revisions" include and how it will benefit the youth system.

#6 is something which is a definite positive. No complaints at all about this.

Of all those things #3 is probably the one that stands out for me. The Palau is a crumbling relic which has been given next to no modernisation since it was built. Given that we have one of Europe's finest basketball teams and extremely competitive handball and roller hockey teams a new multi-sports venue is a must.

On the subject of # 2 I will admit that I translated the article in a rush and probably didn't do very well on that point. In the original article (in SPORT) the impression I got was that Rossell would vastly scale back the existing plans.

Well for #2 its good to hear that it isnt a complete overhaul

And its interesting to hear another cule's POV on #3. Like i said to me its irrelevant but its good that for people that know more about the other sports the club participates in that the new venue isnt excessive. Ill gladly take your word on that one. I imagine the capacity wont be that big for those kinds of sports so it wont eat into our budget a whole lot.

I wasn't having a go at you, for many culés only the football results matter, the basketball is something closer to the hearts of those actually in Barcelona and I only started following our basketball team when living in the city. At the moment the capacity of the Palau is just over 7,500 but any rebuilt arena would probably be constructed with at least 12,000 seats. The attendances at present suffer because the facility is such a poor place to watch sports, especially basketball and we'd doubtless see an increase in attendances if we had a state of the art venue. Make no mistakes, the building of a new Palau would be a major investment but it's needed and in my eyes it's entirely justified because Barça isn't just about football.

Well dont worry i didnt even take it that way lol. Thanks for the info though..i honestly know nothin about that aspect of the club unfortuantely.

If Ronaldo doesn't go to Real for some reason I can see Rosell posting him up as his poster child signing for the left of our attack. I would hate it, but I can see it due to Rosell having Nike connections, not to mention that Ferguson has said he would prefer to deal with us over Real if given the chance.

Nothing recent to back this up, its just something I can safely say is right up Rosells alley.

On his day Robinho is one of the best on the planet. I'm sure he wouldn't mind coming to Barca, he has no loyalty to Real Madrid. Problem is he's a party animal and that's just not what Barcelona is looking for anymore.

The problem is that his day only ever seems to come when he's playing teams like Blackburn, Wigan, Recre, Getafe etc.

I wonder if there`s any truth in rumor that Pep gets along with Sandro better than he does with Laporta. Read it more than few times in Spanish press
