I'm going to post this stat again : [tw]725062245336637440[/tw].
Many people here were saying that starting Vasquez is better than Ronaldo and that Real will perform better without him. If you watched last night's game you could notice that it's absolutely bs. Poor Bale was trying to carry a poor side but he couldn't do it alone. He played really well. When Ronaldo doesn't play it's like Benzema is useless. Bale tries to shoulder the responsibility and he does well lately so people are writing articles like " Bale plays better without Ronaldo, Ronaldo is shackling Bale etc". This season proved me wrong. Ronaldo is not yet to be discarded and he's a huge part of this Madrid side. IF Real plan to replace him we need to buy TWO starting attackers because he's that much of a presence.
It's a shame that Ronaldo won't be back for 2nd leg or more likely that he'll play while not being even remotely ready.

Bro you're one anonymous CL final performance from Cristiano away from posting that Cristiano needs to be replaced with hazard lewan or Reus

I'm predicting that Pep, in his last season at the club, goes again the best defensive team in Europe and struggles even though this team will create chances. The tie will in the end with Torres scoring a goal that ends the CL dream for Bayern.

This City side is much stronger than Chelsea side of 2012 who somehow won it with teams missing scores of chances vs them.

I see your pov but don't agree. That Chelsea team had some legendary players. City does not have a target man like Drogba for example, or a midfielder like Lampard. Those Chelsea players had experience in CL, experience City does not have at this level.

Hope Bayern can do the job tonight. I don't trust Atletico at all in a final against Real Madrid.

Personally, this would be the only thing that could redeem Pep. My bigger fear is winning the semi final and then crashing in the final. For some reason I trust Atletico to do the job more than ever now. If we win tonight, even by just one goal, I think we're safe. It's gonna be hell though.

I think Bayern are going to get shell shocked tonight.

Atletico is the exact opposite, to the most extreme degree, of the teams Bayern face week in and week out. Incredibly difficult to break down, highly aggressive and unmatched intensity with a gladiator mentality no team on this planet can rival.

True! It's unlike anything we've faced in quite a while. If we messed up against a shit Chelsea in 2012 just imagine the prospect of trying to overcome this Atletico machine. I'm hoping for the best, though. It would be nice to see something surprising happening early on in the tie.

I also think Bayern are in for a big surprise.

Rooting for ATM here ! :)

I don't trust Atletico in the final either but really want them to win the trophy. It will be good for Spanish football to have another team rival the big two and cement that position and then go on and do the same in Europe. There is no reason why a club like Valencia can't do the same if they get the right people at the club, so Atletico becoming Champions of Europe would hopefully inspire others in Spain to get their act together.

It would also be good for us especially if we win the double as although Atletico would be champions of Europe we would still be the best in Spain and have beaten them 7 times of the last 8, so what does that say about us? If Bayern win it then they will have their 2nd treble and with Ancellotti next season could go back to back, in fact I think they would be more of a threat with him in Europe. If Real win it then that would be 2 from 3 matching what Pap's Barca achieved and Ronaldo would take home another Balon d'Or both of which would be unbearable.

I don't want City to win it either as they are completely average and have had their success handed to them on a plate whilst others like Atletico have had to fight hard for everything they have got. Any club could do what City have done with their owner financing them, only a special club like Atletico could do what they are doing right now.

If Bayern don't win, I'd probably root for Atletico too. They should have won it last time, so it would only be fair to their fans. It would also cement the fact that La Liga is without a doubt the best league in Europe.

We'll see. Atletico isn't facing some lame fatigued Barcelona side this round. Bayern is also much more of an aerial threat and Atletico won't be able to just clear all crosses with ease like they did against us. Plus, I don't think Atletico will finish this game with 11 men.

I'm also really hoping we cross a lot and use the aerial presence of Lewandowski and Mueller to get a crucial goal or two. We also need a rigid midfield, so with Thiago's bad form and Alonso's sloppiness, I hope Pep uses Martinez and Vidal in midfield, but it probably won't happen.

Who are the players who are gonna miss the game?

Seems like Bayern will only be missing Robben and Badstuber. Boateng is back in the squad after three months which will be a massive boost for them.

Not too sure when it comes to Atletico, but I know Godin is out.

Yeah Badstuber and Robben are out 100%. Boateng will most likely not participate in any manner. On Atletico's side they obviously have Godin missing, but also Tiago is out and most likely Carrasco.

I'm predicting that Pep, in his last season at the club, goes again the best defensive team in Europe and struggles even though this team will create chances. The tie will in the end with Torres scoring a goal that ends the CL dream for Bayern.

:bartomeu:

:throw: My nightmare right there. I really, really don't like Torres. I hope he gets another red card just for consistency.

Sorry mate, but I really dislike Bayern, respect Atletico and what they're achieving ..

Oh, and we're 5 to 5 in UCL count .. don't want Bayern having more than we do the season just after we equalized :p

So Atletico's CB pairing will likely be Giminez and Hernandez who are ages 21 and 20 years old.

Their midfield will be run by Saul and Koke who are 21 and 24 years old

Oblak is 23 and Griezmann is 25.

Half of their starting XI against BAYERN in the CL SEMI FINAL could be under 25 years of age. The average age of their CBs pairing will be 20.5 years old.

Jesus Christ. I'm jealous but at the same time I can't hide my admiration for any team who does that.

Hope they win it.

To be honest historical UCL trophies mean very little to me. Every time I take into consideration the most successful teams I like to look at the previous 5-10 seasons instead. So yeah, don't worry, you guys have overachieved almost flawlessly. I can not but be jealous.

How much will you like Atletico if they lose against us and beat you to La Liga? :lucho:

tbf ,that is a reason for them to worry a bit
Having such young GK & CB pairing could play against them .experience & leadership are really important in organizing the defense

True, we've been pretty awesome the last decade :D

About LaLiga .. honestly, I don't think we'll loose it, but if we do, I think no other team would be more deserving than Atletico... and FUCK real madrid !

Predictions, lads?

Personally gonna go for a 1-1, but won't rule out a 2-1 for Atletico.

Hope I'm horribly wrong and Bayern score at least 2 goals.

I agree completely, not having Godin to organize the defense could hurt them a lot.

But at the same time the way that they have managed seamlessly transition young players into the starting XI like Saul, Giminez and Oblak after losing experienced players like Arda, Miranda and Courtois, gives me reason to believe.

Well, if they put on a performance around the same level that they played against us, I think Bayern should be very worried.

Edit: I'm going to predict 2-0 for Atletico.

Tough call on who I want to win. If Atletico wins, they'll most likely lose to RM in the final (imo).

Bayern is a scum team but if they go to the final, I think they are more able to beat RM than Atletico
