He's not better than prime Neymar FFS. And I'd wager he will never be, because he doesn't have the same talent. And talent you can't buy, train or teach. Sure, he'll have the trophies, but any guy who hasn't started watching football yesterday can tell you he isn't in the same class as Neymar.
Prime Neymar had the talent to get into Brazil 2002 side for example. Vinicius would certainly be benched.
Also, Neymar(when he was healthy and interested in football) had to share the team with two all time greats in Suarez and Messi. Elite teams in CL were powerful.
Vinicius had a Benzema on his last legs and then he found himself as the lead man. Big teams in the last 2-3 seasons are poor to very poor. There was Liverpool for a bit, City and that's about it. The rest are in decline.
He has a real chance to win a Ballon this season, if Mbappe doesn't get the Euro. But Mbappe is on another stratosphere to him.
Vinicius is too inconsistent and wasteful right now. But since football talent has dried up, anything goes.
He is also a nobody at NT level. And that's in a period when competition in the Brazil squad is zero.

Aside from stat padding in qualifiers and friendlies, Neymar hasn't delivered when it mattered most for Brazil. Man has the same number of World Cup goals as freaking Gyan Asamoah.

Vinicius could not reach 15/16 Neymar in 1000 lifetimes.
In general Neymar's club career has started to get underrated a lot. Always delivered G/A's every season. Vinicius is about 3 seasons in to being a 'top' player and even still he's had some poor games even this year despite the sudden narrative he's destined for the Balon D'or.
Don't get me wrong by todays standards he's one of the best but he's not reaching a level others haven't before him.
