marcelo in the RM setup looks like the greatest attacking fullback who ever played (prime alves being the other candidate). in brazil setup, he is pedestrian. what the hell.

Its strange, one would think he would link up well with another dribbler/skiller like Neymar, it should work wonders in theory.

Neymar stifles attacking fullbacks. He's a ball stopper. He does his little cute stepovers, sometimes they work sometimes they fail. Mostly fail.

mbappe isn't overrated imo you can clearly see he's special

How many times have you watched him? He plays basically every match for PSG and only scored something like 5 league goals since January.

Nobody notices all his shit performances since he plays in the French league. He was even worse than Dembele yesterday, especially in the last 20 minutes trying to take everyone on and losing the ball every time.

But Marcelo worked well with Ronaldo, back when he was actually more of a winger, and there are lot of similarities between young CR and NeyNey.

So:

Spain: drew
Portugal: drew
Argentina: drew
Germany: lost
Brazil: drew
France: won (barely)

Underwhelming performances from all big teams and all balon d'or or best young player contenders, except CR7. Yet, in none of these cases has there been more of an overreaction or over-analysis than with Argentina.

Hopefully this takes the pressure off Argentina and Messi.
