Really stupid system. Yellow cards not wiped after the group stages and whatever happened to 3 yellows and then suspension. I think that was a thing before
I agree. This is boring.

Outside the Euros, where Spain did fine, this style of play has not worked well internationally or in UCL for about 10 years now.
Possession is fine, but but basing your game around keeping the ball at all cost is painfully predictable, and has been found out.
Yeah, Argentina should have replaced Messi with Dybala like 5 years ago.
Of course it wouldn't have made sense.
Maybe a renewal could start after this world cup.
I wouldn't be surprised if Messi himself says goodbye to the national team again (this time for real)
I don't agree. They just had a bad day and no world class strikers. Full backs were poor also yesterday. I think if they'd got past morroco the rest of the games would've been more open and easier just like the euros where they scored and had other clear chances against italy. One team has to keep up this style for the good of the game and it might as well be rhe best international team at it in spain

They had 1 win in 6 matches on Euros
This time 1 win in 4 matches
They were one of best sides at Euros first couple games when they could have won 4/5-0 on other days and their system worked for most part.
This WC was different.
Cant have Gavi as the main AM and him making fucking 9 passes a game and have Pedri sitting deeper as cant get ball through Busquets.
Pedri was best midfielder at last Euros when allowed to focus more on final third and Koke sitting more for him.. Lucho flipped that and had Pedri sitting deeper and Gavi as AM... Gavi doesnt pass ball well enough for that and has issuee finding space to get on ball too often. Then made it even worse by playing an ever older and slower Busi at DM rather than one of top DMs in world in Rodri.
Croatia have won 1 of 4 games this WC as well but folk seem to think that and winning no games in normal time in last WC kos deserves more respect. It is easy to try and use certain stats to make a point.
About Pedri in 2021 vs 2022, this time WC is midseason where all teams are fresh and in form.
Maybe a part of Pedri/Spanish displays at Euros 2021 came from France and England being dead tired after a long season and teams playing deep CL runs.
Pedri was young, without too much mileage on his backs and others were dead tired for 10 years in a row.
This time, when it's mid season and when even older players aged 33 or 35 are still fresh, Spain and Pedri struggled way more.
Maybe it's Gavi, maybe it's bad luck.
Maybe it is mid season.
There are tons of factors.
From what we know from Barca, in midseason, where everyone are fresh, Pedri was meh in 2 seasons in a CL and Uefa league.
Im putting money on a Frenkie yellow card. Easy money since besides a foul, Lahoz hates complaining and questionimg his authority since hes a dick that makes everything about himself.
Need to see favourites not slipping up and see that Brazil-Argentina and France-Portugal insane semifinals. Both Messi and Cristiano to take on the two biggest favourites and honestly the two best teams in this tournament. Can one of them make it and get the chance at the holy grail (again)? Can both make it for what would be the most anticipated WC final in history?
Although Cristiano might have to settle with watching from the bench if Portugal want to have any chance of winning.
