Which comment post match led to believe he's injured again?

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola was thrilled with his side's second-half fightback to beat Valencia 2-1 at the Nou Camp this evening but admits he is concerned by the fitness of Xavi after the Spain midfielder limped off 13 minutes from time.

Xavi was returning from an Achilles problem and was instrumental in Barça's comeback, setting up the goals for Andres Iniesta and Carles Puyol to cancel out Pablo Hernandez's 37th-minute strike.

But the 30-year-old was clearly in pain late on and was replaced by Javier Mascherano after 77 minutes - and Guardiola fears his playmaker may be restricted to a less regular role in future.

"My feeling is that he won't be able to play week in, week out, but we will see how he is and how the problem evolves over time," he said after the match. Xavi is now doubtful for Barça's UEFA Champions League match at home to FC Copenhagen on Wednesday.

"We will see how he is when he gets up tomorrow, but we won't take any chances," Guardiola said.

this is why we needed cesc.

I mean, alright, cesc can't truly replace xavi - but he could add something different to our midfield so if xavi is gone we could still put out a team of top-quality across the board.

professor X ain't gonna last forever. :(

Cesc is basically a Keita-upgrade as his natural style resembles Keitas current role, while he would just be much better at filling it out.

This also makes him the most valuable transfer target b/c he is the best alternative for the weakest spot in our starting 11 ... very unlike Masch for example who cant take over a tactical role in the current formation, making him rot on the bench. Not that i want to talk Maschs skills down, but there is just no need for him apart of a tactical option to seal a tight game.

Schweiensteiger is ATLEAST ONE of the best midfielders in the world, IMO, however he wouldn't fit in the Barca/Spain system. He is good when it comes to Germany. Good Physics, and Strong determination.

Having said that... Xavi and Iniesta still rock the universe...!

Well, Schweinsteiger is Mous prime target, so ... Although i dunno really why as they have a very similar player in Xabi Alonso. And as well as Xabi, Schweinsteiger wouldnt really fit into a MF with Xavi Busquets as (like in the spanish NT with Xabi) it would force Xavi to play much higher ... and that just doesnt suit him well.

It had to be him... 2 great assists by the maestro won us the game. As soon he was subbed off Valencia gained more control, but then we kept our composure and didn't lose the goal. The effect that he has on our team can't be more obvious!!

Acquiring Cesc is a matter of life and death for us now.

As a pure passer and consistent playmaker,Xavi has no equal. But Cesc has some extra qualities that Xavi does not.

Yeah the saviour... the only one who can help us win a treble, no a fecking trophy, no... Cesc Fabregas is the only one who can stop us losing out on every other trophy that we compete for in the next 5 years... Oh wait. I got confused. Did I say Cesc has won naught in the last 5 years!?

Come on dude, you know better than this.Cesc has Song and Clichy and Bendtner as teammates. At Barca he will have Messi,Iniesta,Xavi,Alves,Villa.

Put in another way,if Xavi replaced Cesc at Arsenal and vice versa, which would be the better club in your opinion?

Crap :(
He should be rested until this achilles' problem heals. I hope it's not chronic already.

you really need to accept that:

1. cesc is awesome
2. he will sign for barca either in a year or two
3. he is a player we need to sign for the continuing stability of our team in the future
4. he will improve when we bring him home
5. his mum probably does make very good pa amba tomaquet

cesc is utterly world-class. he no xavi-clone (but no one is) but he could do a great job and be a central part of our midfield going forward, especially alongside iniesta who could become the new volante of the side.

the only player who could come in instead of cesc and have as big an impact is javier pastore.

anyone else would be too big a step down in quality.

Cesc is an above average attacking midfielder who is
a. not as good as his price.
b. Couldn't hold Xavi's jock strap.

If we try to duplicate this team wth Cesc in Xavi's place we will be mediocre. When Xavi declines our tactics need to change because we can't play like this without Xavi. Same goes with Spain. Cesc is a much more direct player and is world class in a more attacking role, but utterly gash as a pure volante.

Now stop polluting the Xavi topic with this bullshit. We will eventually need another playmaker, whether it be Cesc, Pastore, or Jesus Christ reincarnated, but us being utterly gash without Xavi doesn't mean a career loser like Cesc is our only option.
