Dont see it with Foyth at all.

Not great on ball and looks like a CB trying to play RB.

Maybe how bad he was at Spurs is clouding it but cant see what Barca want him for.

He has got better on the ball from playing rightback. But then again wouldn't Kounde do the same if he had a few seasons there?

Keep at RB until he hands In an ultamatum to be moved to CB or transferred, which may be a win-win.

Then get a top quality prospect when they present themselves.

Xavi has the in-game option too to shift to a 343 too as Kounde can slot into a back three.

Honestly would not surprise me if they sold Christensen and took in Foyth at RB.

Would be about the worst Barca back four of all time on the ball.

Funny thing is Kounde is the best RB in LaLiga statistically according to WhoScored.

So if you want data then it doesn't support the change.

Theres a few key points that Foyth is higher on (tackles, dribbles) but that cN partly be to where he is playing and again, being accustomed to the position. I recall his first season at Villarreal and he was awful. Probably worse at Spuds too.

Foyth is potentially a top class player. He was a monster vs Bayern in CL last season. Considering the money Villareal ask for him he may or not pan out, but certainly a promising player imo.
Villarreal's defensive performance is somewhat overrated vs Bayern last year. Bayern had almost 50 shots over two legs but could never hit the target.

At the Allianz he was getting dribbled past pretty easily, got booked and looked a liability.

In fact he got dribbled past 9 times over two legs and won only 33% of his duels.

There's nothing that supports investing in Foyth while we have Kounde at RB. Especially with what Villarreal demand for him.

He is a more aggressive player, so tackles more, but also commits more fouls and receives more cards. So there is a trade off for that. Lower pass %, slightly higher dribbles, and even lower G/A than Kounde.

One thing he has is he is faster though.

It just seems one of those gut signings for Xavi, just as Ferran was over Alvarez and we see how that panned out. I hope Laporta can put this on a leash because it seems a waste of energy and finances for negligible (or even deterioration if Kounde grows in his 2nd season there) difference on the pitch.
