7 Barcelona players on the pitch for Spain.

VdB doesn't have the word rest in his dictionary.

Why should he? He doesn't care.. He gets these players once every 2-3 months and just plays them. It's up to Barça and Xavi to do something if they feel he should rest.

Why? Shouldn't he consider having his maestro going to Brasil in his best form and physical condition? Since he has the chance to give his main players some break when possible.

Him resting Xavi this game won't have effect on his performances in Brazil. It's just one game. It's Barça that needs to rest him if they want him to be fit. I'd play him as well if I were Del Bosque.

I disagree. Spain has a lot of quality in the midfield. Not the case in Barça.

1 or even 2 games, specially those 2 since Spain has made it to Brazil can make a difference. Imagine Xavi having a 2 week rest every now and then. Tata is doing his best to do that, but Del Busque isn't even considering it.

Barçapocalypse NOW!
Still, Spain needed to win this match to get closer to the WC, so resting their best players was out of the question...

I'm more worried about Alves and Neymar going to Korea and Alexis going to South America, than Xavi playing 90 (or 180) minutes in spanish territory...
