Mikayil Faye

Diambars FC of the Gambia League, negotiated with Olympique de Marseille and the player found himself linked to the French club without having signed any contract. They usurped his signature and closed the deal behind his back. His agents took the case to FIFA, which proved them right last January. After six months without being able to play, only training at NK Kustosija , the young centre-back played 14 games with the Croatian second division team, in which he scored a goal and provided an assist

Explains a bit of what happened with his Marseille move. Also.

The Senegalese wants to live very close to the Ciutat Esportiva to be able to go to train every day on foot. Faye only thinks of working to earn a place in the reserve team first and then convincing Xavi that he can have a place in the first team.

Elite mentality loading. Looks shorter than billed though.

❗Many big clubs were following Mikayil Faye after the 2019 U17 World Cup, which he played as a 15yo, but as soon as Barcelona appeared on the scene he told his agent that he only wanted to sign for Barça despite being offered more money by Chelsea, Manchester City, Leipzig, Milan and Dortmund.

He did not even want his agents to try and improve the conditions of Barça's offer. After signing his new contract, he thanked Laporta, Alemany and Deco for giving him the chance to fulfill his childhood dream.

He wants to live very close to the Ciutat Esportiva and go to train everyday on foot. He only thinks of working hard to have a place in the reserve team first and then convincing Xavi that he can play for the first team.

He will train with the first team under Xavi when pre-season begins on 10th July, after which Xavi will decide if he will travel to USA.

So he had interest from city as well if the above is true. Definitely not a Douglas case.

It still doesn't explain why he moved to a relegation team in Croatia 2nd division.

It is just one weird case. My first thought was age fabrication, but Senegal doesn't have reputation of age fraud (although it happened) like Nigeria, Cameroon or Mali.
Just hope he proves he is quality
