19 - Lamine Yamal

It's funny people complain about Yamals personality when it's very likely the reason he is performing so well is directly because of it.

Contrast that to Bojan who had similar levels of hype and early production. Only to falter because his mentality was weak.

Van der Vaart: "I would like to advice Lamine Yamal... Stop worrying about the opinion of an ex-footballer who is a little too fat. His IG post doesn't bother me. I find him an incredible player. I just hope he keeps his feet on the ground."

Van der Vaart could be saucy, trivial, jealous or an irritating madrididsta but I sincerely hope the last sentence in his quote above is not discarded with the messenger by Yamal's handlers as a rant of a jealous adversary.

I recall Mats Ter Stegen saying something in that line at the beginning of the season.

He doesn't usually reply to people like that, but some people deserves it and Van der Vaart is one of those. His criticism didn't even make any sense. It was just to throw a shot at him, which VDV often does if you've followed his constant yapping about players nowadays.
Obviously hopefully Lamine doesn't make a habit out of it, but I think there's enough level headed people at Barca to avoid that happening.

Even Messi in his younger days did react to former players or journalists. He even went out of his way to DM Jamie Carragher on Instagram to call him a donkey

Smart reply by VdV ngl. Comes out of this looking rather humble and makes Lamine seem a bit arrogant.

VdV's initial comment on Yamal was very dumb. Good save here.
