His natural instincts aren't attacking.

He's not a direct player. He always prioritizes ball retention and possession recycling.

He's not a risk taking midfielder like Bruno, Olmo, KDB. Very different profile.

Doesn't have the offensive instincts to be a true number 10. He's a much better 8.

His off the ball work this season has been very impressive.

Wouldn't change anything about Pedri. He is the real deal #8 we have all been waiting for ever since Xavi and Don left. He embodies our philosophy perfectly and is truly invaluable for the way we want to play the game. Top 5 players in the world right now, without a doubt.

That comment sums up why he had to be given more freedom than he was under Xavi.

Need ball to touch the feet as many times as can through Pedri and not posted up as a manequin in final third waiting on others to get ball.

It was bizarre the way Xavi thought was best way to play him even if he was good enough to still perform at a very high level.

This sequence you are posting is more about regaining the control of the ball and the Match rater than take a chance, loose the ball and suddenly its 2-3 and its a game again. or simply put he knows what his doing

Its obvious he didnt want run n gun shit while 3:1. If we were trailing or needed a goal that ball would went there 100%, this way calmed the shit out, preserved energy too.

Yes, he has been quite vocal of the need to be able to see out games also, especially after we dropped 2 goals leads a couple of times. Smart lad.

Posted in match chat he'll pirouette backwards almost always taking the safe route never taking a defender on directly way Yamal does. Iniesta went past players like they weren't even there but no fear of losing the ball.

Panda plays with fear, nowhere near Puig's level.

I think Xavi tried to help Pedri focus on attack more and reduce his defensive duty. But last season Pedri struggled a lot with injuries/fitness.

Still think Pedri will play higher very soon.
