Nico is talented but I think he's a lot more raw than people claim and not sure if he would be an instant hit here. He clearly has a lot of potential but needs to work on end product.

It's definitely a relevant point, its easier for him to drop some pressing duties and not have to run as much when the whole team is youthful and fast. The Gundogan Olmo switch looks ideal in that aspect.

If we weren't competing that would be preferable but we can win the league this season on top of maybe going far in CL so we need him. He's also proving his worth in these games and playing very well in the new system.

Then maybe he may just have to be benched, and be a squad option, it's nice to have actual good players as backups.

If you watched Barca under Xavi, you would get what I mean. The positioning can still be important, but there is a lot more freedom to move. Players weren't really allowed to move much from their starting positions under Xavi, absolute positional play cone-like system.

I think the scheme is completely different, almost polar opposite ideas of the game in terms of build up, speed of ball movement, positional freedom etc.

Not really. He hasn't been bad, been one of our better players. Just hasn't lived up to expectations, which is a different thing. But I think Flick's vertical football will suit him much more and Flick knows it.

He's playing much better this season so far. Having less pressing duties is helping him a lot, Flick is managing him better. Nice to see.

I think also his physical level might genuinely be the best in his position in the world. Rarely ever see a player like this who can run so fast for so long and still be fresh at the end.
