    10 - Lionel Messi - v2

And Unlike the past world cup, they'll actually be taking one brilliant player in defence now in Zabaleta, who I think is arguably the best defensive rightback in the world after Lahm. And a huge upgrade on who they had there last time (Otamendi was it?) And if Caballero is picked ahead of...

Defence comparison this season and last season; Here's what the stats say:

I'm pretty sure we've scored more goals this season that last against the teams we've played in both seasons. EDIT: We scored 35 goals this season and last season against the same (15) teams.

    10 - Lionel Messi - v2

Yesmaam...If given the choice of us doing the League and CL double this season and Messi not winning the Ballon d'or. I'd pick the former every time without thinking twice, I couldn't give two hoots if he won it again, as long as we keep winning, football is a team sport after all.

Defence comparison this season and last season; Here's what the stats say:

Cheers lads! :D Yup you are correct. Like I said in the OP, the significance will increase with the number of games. Added the Celta Vigo game, will add the Espanyol game after the match tonight. EDIT: While I was compiling this together, I passively looked at the attacking numbers (even...

    Gerardo "Tata" Martino

Good post, but for next time, I'll avoid arguing with that Poor Sunyol whatever dude though, trust me, you'll be saving yourself a lot of time.

    Trust me, he's not.

    Atlético Madrid

Man...they scare the hell out of me this team. How the hell did this happen? While everyone was wanking over the flavour of the month teams, they basically just sneaked up from behind and built one heck of a team. They are actually genuinly one of the five best teams in Europe, it's not even...

Defence comparison this season and last season; Here's what the stats say:

Added the Madrid game. Allowed 10 shots each in both games. There is a huge difference in how we conceded those shots however. In 12/13, 7 out of the 10 shots were taken from inside the penalty area. In yesterdays game, only 3 out of the 10 shots were taken inside the penalty area.

    10 - Lionel Messi - v2

He is right. Those stats are from whoscored.com. Other prominent attackers: Ribery 1.5 turnovers per game Ozil 2.2 turnovers per game Ronaldo 1.6 turnovers per game Neymar 2 turnovers per game Heck, our own Xavi and Iniesta (players who are seen to "never" lose the ball) are at 0.6 and 1.1...

    Penal Madrid

I'm pretty sure I hate madrid more than 99% on here. But there were (are?) a lot of twats (Vidal, Chiellini,Tevez says hello) in the Juve team and there was nothing dodgy about the penalty. The pathetic clutching of the face by CR is not surprising because..well...its CR plus Neymar is guilty...

    14 - Javier Mascherano

He's blaming a player that didn't even play FFS. The hilarious thing is he seems so brash about it too . I wonder how many people spout so much nonsense without even watching the games. I bet there's plenty more too.

Cheers! Updated it now with the Milan game.

Defence comparison this season and last season; Here's what the stats say:

Yup, seems that way to me, at least that's what the stats is saying. I reckon 10 games is still a little bit too few a sample size though. I'll keep adding with each passing game.

Defence comparison this season and last season; Here's what the stats say:

In comparison to equivalent fixtures last season. No of games (so far): 15 Last entry: Espanyol(Home) Next entry: Real Betis(Away) Blue is better, red is worse. The more games we play, the more significant the stats will be I'd imagine. Does this match your perception from watching those...

    Cristiano Ronaldo - v1

That's fair, for me though. If I have to pick an all time 11, Xavi in his prime will be one of the first names on the teamsheet. C.Ronaldo is far down the pecking order for me. As an example of what I'm saying, having Ronaldinho at his peak playing that inside left position over Ronaldo, with...

    Cristiano Ronaldo - v1

Depends what people mean by underrated. If people are saying he (Cristiano) isn't top 30, then yeah he is being underrated. Anybody that says he's top 10 though is overrating him quite clearly, his resume pales laughably to the people that belong in that company. The funny thing about his...

    Daniel Alves

I have watched them, and I don't think we necessarily give away considerably more chances, certainly not one that is clearly noticeable. Usually, when a team can't break your defensive organisation, they take pot shots from distance. The number of pot shots from outside the 18 yard box will be...
  18. B

    Daniel Alves

Most defensively good teams, at a guess, will limit opposing teams to about half (40-60%) of the (low) total no of shots from pot shots outside the 18 yard box. The difference in that range is so negligible that you're splitting hairs at that point and it becomes irrelevant as a barometer of...

    Daniel Alves

 Why didn't you post that yesterday. You could have saved me the energy of typing all those massive wall of texts . The way they went on about it, you would have thought Bayern let in only 2 shots, with both shots only in the 90th minute, just so poor old Neuer can get a feel of the...

I hadn't even noticed that, good point
