Yes. The only result that should maybe be expected of him this season is a top 4 finish which even now shouldn't be too difficult. Beyond that, he should be free to do whatever he believes to be in the team's best interest long term.
Set the team up for the future and ideally stay in the CL...
He's probably gone next year anyway. His job as I see it is to make his successor's job easier.
I think if he gets a second season that's when he needs to be competing for La Liga.
So his job this season is to prepare the team for next season.
It's true. We need to get rid of the amigos which would most likely mean some of the guys like Griezmann, Dembele etc are going to have to get games next season.
Also if we sell them on top of the amigos that's literally the whole team gone
We need a new team regardless of whether Messi stays.
Yes. If he can't run for 90 mins, give him 30-60.
I like the idea of Messi as a Xavi 2015 esque impact sub. Doubt he'd be willing to do it though.
Honestly, whether or not they are worse than Suarez doesn’t even matter at this point. The seniors have become far too toxic.
At least if they stink up the place, they will be benched or players will be brought in to replace them.
For what it’s worth, coaches with impressive playing careers tend to do well with us. Rijkaard, Pep, Lucho.
Maybe it takes a superstar player to deal with superstar players. Zidane also succeeded at Madrid with no resume beyond his days as a player.
7 years. Lucho the GOD managed to stop it for 2 years but alas he couldn't hide the true nature of these players forever.
The amigos walked all over Valverde like they did with Setien. And Valverde's resume wasn't that much more impressive anyway.
He and Dembele are flops but at the moment I'd focus on getting rid of the amigos. After that let the new coach decide what to do with the rest of the team. We can sell him next year.
Even if the amigos are cleared out I don't really see him working out but we can't get rid of the whole team at...
Should never wear a Barca shirt again.
Neither should any of the other amigos:
Pique
Alba
Roberto
Rakitic
Suarez
Messi
With the exception of Messi IF he's willing to give up half his salary and his position as a guaranteed starter, let alone the center of the team.
