All that said ..... I am slightly bothered when 'older' elite athletes start getting suddenly brilliant after appearing to be in a pretty sharp decline .. some were writing Cronaldo off a while ago and even Real fans were getting frustrated with him .

It appears as though Cronaldo's EGO is simply driving him to greater things yet for some reason the pressure Cronaldo is putting on him is somehow working against Leo . Pity Messi doesn't have Ibra's inner confidence.

The introduction of VAR seems to be giving more bad decisions than ever before ... so many clear penalties missed and some dodgy ones given . It's all very strange . Even in open play the refs seem to miss bad and even dangerous tackles yet stop the play for obvious dives .

Lets get real -he's a great player but he's just so obnoxious it's untrue . He's just spoiling this World Cup big time for me . He'd better be squeaky clean because if it comes out sometime that he's been taking something to enable him to get better as he gets older I'm gonna be well miffed !

He has everything Rakitic has plus so much more as he's much faster across the ground and he's a genuine goal threat plus he can play anywhere across the midfield and the either of the two wide positions up front.
