Hot take: the second part of the 2009/10 season may be the best period of his career

Have you noticed how much envy and jealousy the players and coaches from Pep's Barca team seem to attract?

That Barca team (2009-2012) terrorized Europe and revolutionized football like no other. On the top of the titles and achievements, we arguably played the most beautiful brand of football. There is literally no other comparison in the 21st century. Fans of most teams are sour.

Who would perform better: Pep's Messi in Lucho's Barca or Lucho's Messi in Pep's Barca?

Interesting thought experiment. Pep's Barca were almost invincible, 2/4 CLs, 3/4 LLs. Yet, still beatable. Would a more rounded version of Messi help or deter the team? Other way around, Lucho's Barca won everything in 2014/15, then gradually fell off the following years. Would a more...

1)That team would have chocked if a Real Madrid side were on their necks 2) Dude, I am saying that Spurs was a historically weak opponent. Even if we did not choke against Liverpool, we would have lost if we had to play a normal opponent and not Spurs

True, I agree. I put 18/19 only behind 10/11, 14/15 and 11/12. Though, to be honest (and this is a dig to Valverde and the rest of that sorry team, not Messi), this "we almost got the CL/treble" claim, is a little bit misplaced: -In La Liga we literally faced by far the worst Real Madrid team...

    Kylian Mbappé

Well, it is no wonder. People used to say that the physical prime is at ~27 years, but nowadays star players start playing week in week out at 17. You‘ll have to factor that in, so it is not outrageous to say that the physical prime is around 24-25. That was the case for Messi (2012) and even...

Unreal. We are so blessed to have watched him in his peak. To this day I cannot decide if this version or 2010/11 was better. It would be interesting to see the latter play alongside prime Suarez and Ney

    Why was Tata so bad?

Agreed, though I would not call the first part of the season terrific. We were very effective but did not play great football like under Pep. Messi had his best goalscoring season ever, but his dribbling and creation of chances was subpar to his standards.

    Why was Tata so bad?

Was against Rayo dude  2013-14 was like a considerably older and drained version of 2012-13, which was not great to begin with. A more interesting question would be: What if Tito had stayed healthy? I am not talking about the long-term, rather than just for that season. We pretty much...

    Why was Tata so bad?

The worst season in the 2010s. Many players were in decline/injured, Messi was injured and demotivated, there were many scandals (iirc Rossel went to jail  ), Tito died and Tata was not qualified for the job. The end-result flatters us. We got KOed pretty badly by Atleti in the CL. In the...

Where is Cristiano? :mou: Btw I find the obsession with the "year" stats quite weird. Football revolves around seasons, not years. Yet everyone has heard of the 91 goals record, but few actually know that in 2011/12 he scored 73 for Barca alone, which was also a record iirc. And most of the...

They are really a C tier nation. Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Italy, France and Spain are all miles ahead of them. Holland has also performed better historically compared to them. Uruguay too. They really are in the Portugal tier

I saw a graph, that says it all really..It revealed that since 2002, England has only won against a top 10 team once out of eleven times (and that was Denmark in 2020...) Despite their recent' success, in reality, they only reached the latter stages of the tournaments because they played shit...
