1 - Marc-Andre ter Stegen

But is he a better GK than Stegen?

The point isn't what he can produce on a small sample of games. Otherwise it confirms my theory that you don't need the best of the best to win stuff. Although I'm 100% in agreement that we lacked planning by not getting a decent competitor for Stegen.

You don't need best of the best, but you need good players that don't get scared by pressure, especially in CL. With Stegen, the more pressure in a game, the worse he is gonna be.

When MATS is having a season like this, and he has before, arguably yes

Not that either is performing independently of how the defense plays like some other keepers. Keylor Navas was arguably above both in that regard pulling out results on his own for several years, even when his height got exploited
I would say this is his worse start, dunno if stats back this up though. Otherwise, yeah any GK not fucking up like he did would be considered better solely on the fact that a blunder is more detrimental to the team's result.

As others have said he inspires absolutely no confidence. If you're a defender for a team who wants to compete for every trophy, you can't have doubt creeping in. Especially if that person is supposed to be your captain. This season needs to be his last chance.

Always felt that he is in line with his teammates in our CL disasters. If team crumbles he crumbles and vice versa.

He's going nowhere, sadly.

He's only 32 which is pretty young for a GK and the worst part is nobody in the club wants him sold.

Moreover, his contract expires in 4 years from now so no chance of getting rid of him anytime soon.
They'll change their mind. Ter Stegen will absolutely fuck us this season more than anything else. People will realise, Laporta will realise.

More like a key factor that contributes to the team crumbling and then him crumbling even more.

Anyway, this is a new team, and we need stronger mentalities. Don't want likes of Yamal to become damaged due to players like Stegen.

Anyway, curious to see if Germany NT is gonna look for other option or they will make him no1 just by seniority.

If nothing changed after Anfield, 8-2, Benfica, Bayern again and etc., nothing will ever change their mind.
We are playing beautiful football now, almost whole team is doing good. It wasn't like that back in 2020 or 2019. It was Ter Stegen who was holding us back, but also other players. Now it's just Ter Stegen, and partially Lewandowski. Every braindead mf will see that Ter Stegen is the biggest problem with a few more games, back then it was hard for mentally unstable to see. Now even they have it easy.

Even now many people still rate MATS, it's mindblowing. I don't remember a GK from top teams that ever had so many catastrophic games in the CL. A nice save against Almeria when we are 3-0 up and all is forgotten.
The funny thing is his saves are mostly pure luck. He just makes that weird ass dumb position and hopes the ball hits him in his hand. He closes his eyes for some reason in the meanwhile so if the ball goes around he doesn't even know to move his hand and try to save. That's pretty much what he relies on his whole career. That and shots going straight at him.
