Valdes: "Yesterday's game was one of the best Liga starts I can remember. We were very intense and defended higher up the pitch." #fcblive

Imagine if he would decide to lay down , the opponent sees him , kicks the ball and scores a 50-60 m long goal . Valdes would be trolled for eternity.
Something similar but not lay down almost happen, against Sociedad in 2011-2012 season. He was walking without seeing that the ball was coming :p

Valdes: "Can I change decision to leave? I've said since the first day that my decision is irrevocable. I've always been clear to the club."
Valdes: "Pressing high is very important, it has been one of the secrets of this team these past years, it's curcial."

Valdes: "Casillas again benched? I was surprised, for me he's the best. He saved Madrid and Spain several times with great saves."
Valdés: "Tata prefers man-marking at set pieces and I think the same. Everyone has a clear responsibility and I have more space to come out"

Why was he benched ? Didn't he fully recover from his injury ?
No... Obviously because it will take something better to bench Lopez. Diego deserves to start, Casillas needs to earn his place and to prove that he's better. You can't just bench Lopez because Casillas returned.

I watched some of Madrid's games last season and Lopez was great but I didn't think it was enough to bench Casillas...

It is more than enough, and even if its not enough for you last season proves otherwise, for Casillas and Lopez. Casillas was bad while Lopez just came in the January transfer window and proved to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world. And there is the question, would you rather bench Lopez who had an exceptional season and continues the same way just because Casillas is Madrid's captain and a club icon? Not for me, his contribution to the team all those years is admirable and already known but the performances of player in the present should be counted for his place right now, not his reputation and form of the past years. If he's better as you say he should prove it and earn it but not get a place because of who he is and bench someone who is performing well.

Valdes is one of 4 goalkeepers who didn't concede in first Liga round, with Cobeno (R.Vallecano), Diego Alves (Valencia), Bravo (R.Sociedad)
