Fillol (ex-goalkeeper, 1978 World Cup winner): "Spain has a goalkeeping problem. It surprises me that Valdes still isn't number one." [lx]

I'm glad we are getting ter Stegen. Valdes' distribution from the back has declined badly.

57 % passing accuracy.
40/137 accurate/attempted long balls.

As a comparison:

Neuer:

91 % passing accuracy.
94/124 accurate/attempted long balls.

Can't blame the tactics either as Pinto clearly puts a lot more emphasis on playing it out of the back.

Pinto:

90 % passing accuracy.
9/13 accurate/attempted long balls.

(Sample size is smaller but you get the tendency.)

Valdes is aimlessly hoofing it these days. Those 2 blunders against Benzema and Di Maria have completely destroyed his confidence.

I noticed as well. Both he and Courtois were competing for who sends the ball the farthest in the crowd, at the Vicente Calderon. I wonder what allas would've said about Valdes' ball distribution lately if he was still here. :D
