Similar injury with the player apparently losing more than 70% of the meniscus in the meniscectomy. Now that was indeed 9 years ago but again we don't know the exact nature of his tear much less Ansu's - I would also add that the actions of a wide attacking offensive player differ in terms of knee stability than that of a central defender.

It's a good comparison though. Despite the player (Varane) having experienced a number of injuries over his career, his right knee didn't appear to impact his career thus far. He is 28 and central defenders can often play well into their late 30s, we'll see if his knee manages to hold out for much longer
