There seems to be too many people pointing to Messi having a bad World Cup as their one last argument they can have against him.
The fact is up until the quarter final he was the stand out player in the best attacking team in the tournament to that point.
A naive Maradona got carried away with this and played far too many attacking players, just look at the goal Germany scored when Schweinstiger waltzed past Higuain, Pastore and Di Maria on the edge of the Argentina area.
There is not a player history that would have made a difference to Argentina in that game.
