Lol, he will never be the best then

I remember when Mou got the job in Madrid he spoke about Messi vs Cristiano and he said Cristiano wins handsdown, and something like "I'll never work with Messi but im sure Cr7 is the best, suck it barca!!!"

why people make such a big fuss over the WC? bunch of players coming together after every 4 years and after a tiring season to play max 8 games, one bad day, lose one match and you're out , wait the other competiton after 4 years. champions league is like 100 times more important in nowadays come on. wierd...

Messi has been involved (8 goals, 5 assists) in more goals than 18 of the 20 teams have scored in La Liga this season.

I totally agree.

But is the performance of Messi with Argentina really so bad? Absolutely not, onlyfor Messi haters ….. simpy because they like to be blind and they cant accept that he’s the best.
Let’s take a look at Leo career with the NT and always remembrer that he’s only 24 years young:

2005: World Cup U20. With 18 years Messi won the WC U20 (and he won 2 personal trophy: topscorer and best player of the tournament)
2006: World Cup 2006. The injury kept Messi from playing for two months at the end of the 2005–06 season, nevertheless he was selected in the Argentina squad. He dont play in every match. His goal against Serbia make him the youngest scorer of the tournament.
2007 Copa America 2007. Argentina lost the final vs Brasil. Messi won the trophy Copa América Young Player of the Tournament.

2008: Olympic Games - Pechino. Gold, Argentina won the tournament.
2010: World Cup 2010. Argentina out ¼ final vs Germany, but despite this, Messi is nominated in the list of the 10 Best players of the tournament with: Diego Forlan (Uruguay), Asamoah Gyan (Ghana), Andres Iniesta, David Villa and Xavi (all Spain), Mesut Oezil and Bastian Schweinsteiger (Germany) and Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder (Netherlands). Won: Forlan.
Del Bosque:"“Apart from our own players I preferred Messi, each game he played he made 20 chances to score, he is a phenomenon. We would have liked it to have been one of us. But Messi deserves the Golden Ball more than Forlan.”
2011 copa america: Argentina out 1/4 final. Most chances created per 90 minutes in this year's Copa America: Messi 4.15 - Forlan 3.48 - Guarin 3.08.

A young player with this NT career is a fucking fantastic player.

I am 100% sure 80% of those people don't even watch the Argentina matches. It is easy to bluff with youtube highlights and match reports around. I say this because most of them can't even tell that Messi's playing no.10 role in the NT as opposed to the false 9 role in Barca.

The fact that Messi can play both as a striker and playmaker is testament to his ability.

Only simpletons with no ability to analyse anything blame Messi for Argentina's shortcomings. I mean as you if people actually watch him for Argentina, they will quickly notice that he actually plays really well for Argentina. Most importantly the side is always plagued by poor tactics and generally no game plan and clown defenders.

I'd suspect that even if he were to win WC, there would still be much of the same people who would argue against him being the goat.

They would argue that he didnt win it 'as single handedly' as Maradona or something along those lines.

It will be difficult for him to win it with Argentina unless a couple of full backs, centre halfs and a goalkeeper appear for Argentina i the next three years.

Maradona himself has said it is impossible for a single player to dominate a WC in the way he did. The general standard of teams are better, they are more tactically aware and the top players like Messi are coming off a 55/60 game season.

Messi could reach the 40 goals in the UCL.

Otherwise, last season, at the same period, Messi had scored 8 goals, I believe. Today, 12 goals for him. He's well on the way to beating his own record.

Well Messi just sits outside the top 5 of all time scorers in the UCL (counting from early 90s onwards with new format). A healthy UCL campaign will easily see him past 40 (his on 37 I believe). Except those in the top 5 (Raul, RVN, Henry, Schev and Inzaghi) have all player approx 90-100 games on average. Wheras Messi is currently on 57 games :p. Although RVN had a very good goal:game ratio but I think Messi will surpass that ratio when he decides to hang the boots up!
