Although he didn't play today because of thigh muscle discomfort, Messi will be in Rome on Wednesday for the Italy-Argentina game. [md]

Now he is more mature and realizes that wanting to play all the time is ok, but he needs to take better care of himself for the good of his longevity and for the overall bottom line of his team. So maybe he is more inclined now to take it easy with small knocks and discomforts in the face of less important games where he does not necessarily need to play, in order to preserve himself for more important ones.

That injury at the end of last season probably scared him, resulting into him being taking precaution.

I would guess that Messi's advisors and the team get together to find explanations for missing meaningless games. Both Messi and the fans need to accept that his limit is around 65 games a year.

The pointlessness of this friendly is unbelievable, its just quick money for the national teams nothing else, timing is terrible, it disrupts club's preparation and a lot of players will be injured.
Luckily its in Rome rathar than Ecuador.
