lol! he was forced out of position and clearly did not feel comfortable there (probably was a bit unfit as well, the vomiting for example) and still he fought and was the main reason the got that far. in the final he set up palacio or higuain through on goal but he noted an epic miss, once a choker always a choker.

If you consider the whole year and not just world cup it is not outrageous that Di Maria. He was the best player of a champions winning team after all.

Ronaldo is the best player of Real Madrd. Di Maria has had a couple of excellent performances, but Ronaldo was, is, and will be RM's main man and the most important player. And since he signed for United, Di Maria's performances have been pretty grim, with few exceptions. Basically, Di Maria had a great two months, april - may, and the rest of the year for him was not that spectacular.

Ronaldo is a main man definitely but in the second half of the season Di Maria was better. He was a key part in winning champions league. Plus both matches against barca he was their best player imo. I don't know about matches against small teams though. His performances drastically dropped after his move to united I agree. Like I said it is not outrageous like the vela nomination for best forward before messi.
