I'm pretty sure that he suggested names, at least if this whole story is true. It's no secret that he wants to play together with his best friend and he told it to the press one time if I remember correctly. Or it was the other way around, I don't know. But regarding the decision to appoint Tata as a new coach and the thesis that Messi expressed his personal wish to sign Martino, it becomes clear that he has enormous power in the Club (which is no real surprise). The contract extension is the best chance for him to suggest his personal desire for Barca and I'm sure he wants Agüero to join wether he told it the club or not. Since almost every fan wants Messi to renew and therefore keep an eye on the process of the renewal the board would not be able to say no to Messi if he only signs the contract under certain conditions since the club's reputation would be massively damaged if they failed to renew with Messi.

Wether the behaviour of Messi is right or not is another question but I'm 100% sure that HE is able to make decisions to sign certain players.

Messi already said he had nothing to do with Martino why is this starting all over again.

Messi has every right to demand his best years aren't further wasted by the boards stubbornness to improve the squad. Apparently, there would have been no signings last summer if it weren't for real trying to get neymar.

Listen to yourself! You're pretty sure he suggested names, yet not sure if this story is true. Then, you're "100% sure HE is able to make decisions to sign certain players" yet have absolutely ZERO evidence this has happened before, or is happening now.

There is also ZERO evidence Messi had anything to do with the Tata Martino hire. For all we know, they never even met before Martino becoming Barcelona manager. The only thing they had in common was that they're both Argentines and both from Rosario.

One thing we do know for certain is that all this sport rags, rags because to call them newspapers is to insult real newspapers, all the they do is make shit up every single day to get people talking and website hits.

Yes, I do not have any evidence for my thesis but I still believe that Messi's reputation in the club is so high that he is able to leave his handwriting.
Of course all media writes 99% BS but to my mind it seems logical that the board tries everything to please the best player in history wether it is higher salary or something else.
What makes you think that it is unrealistic that he suggests names when talking about possible transfers? In my opinion this is pretty realistic. Wether he puts pressure on the club is another question, maybe there is a little missunderstanding and I apolozige for that. I certainly do not know that he puts pressure on the board to sign Agüero and there is no evidence. I only wanted to point out that IMO Messi has the ability to influence the plans, even it is not a big influence. And I'm pretty sure that Messi would love to suggest his personal wishes and I don't see any arguments which contradict this thesis.

What signings have we made in the past few summers? Alba, Song, Neymar. I think that's it. Did we sign anyone in the summer after we won the CL in 2010-2011? Just Alexis, right? So 4 signings of which 1 is an extremely attacking fullback, another is a failure or perhaps terribly misused, and 2 are forwards that can't score.

Messi is the best player in the World, perhaps the best in the history of the game, and he has been, is and will be the face of FC Barcelona for a while. What Messi meant, means and will mean for this club puts him in positions for his voice to be heard, and for his suggestions and concerns to be listened and taken seriously.

Aside from that suggesting and insinuation he has power to demand players and decide the fortune of managers is a lot of unfounded speculation and simply accusations without any shred of evidence whatsoever.

Agreed but I think he might have suggested a few names.

I should had written "demanded" instead of "suggested". But Messi wasn't even in the meeting, his father was the one there. I don't think Messi is the kind to sit with Faus/Bartomeu/Zubi to discuss anything.
