Messi: "After a difficult year, we want to win the league and dedicate it to Tito. I'm sure he would have liked that." [via esport3]

Messi: “After all that has happened this year, I want to win the Liga title and dedicate it to Tito Vilanova.
Messi: "It was a weird Liga season where the 3 big teams made lots of mistakes but the title is very prestigious."
Messi: "The Liga is important for what it means. It was a hard year. We went through difficult circumstances."
Messi: "Saving the year? I don't know but it would be a very important title."
Messi: "I don't know about Tata's idea for his future. Surely someday, we'll see him coach Argentina. I don't know if renewing the team is what we need. The only important thing is to win.”

Yes , I'm a total cunt for wanting him to run more than 6 km per game and put more effort in games of such importance while watching him on my tv.

Anyway , until now I used to defend his shocking games ( by his standards ) by saying that he is more focused on the world cup but now I think there is something wrong with him , medically speaking. In his glory days I seriously can't remember him throwing up in any of the games he played , and I think from 2009 until now I've missed only 2-3 games. These days he's vomiting a lot of times , spitting every 5 seconds on the pitch .

I refuse to think that he doesn't care anymore or doesn't want to give his best in crucial games. During the game there was a camera on him when some player missed a chance , and Messi was really pissed.

And I don't think his injury has to do much with his current form . He returned from injury 4,5 months ago and in some games he really looked like his old self ( Madrid and City game ) .

As many here have posted, injuries DO matter a lot. Once injured, you become a lot more cautious and risk adverse. Just look closely at the way he falls and observe when he does the somersault. He is always protecting the hamstrings. Looks quite inflexible to me.

If something was wrong with him medically, the staff should know as that is what they are being paid for. Maybe the spitting habit is something metabolic as a result of getting older. There are just too many variables and I for one refuse to accept that Messi has degraded. I do agree that judging by his imperious standards, as Ray Hudson puts it, he has experienced a drop in form. So has the rest of the team. But, I am very hesitant to judge him given what he has achieved for this club and the mere fact that he is still the best player in the world today. Also, I refuse to believe that Messi all of a sudden decided to get lazy. People do not change like that.

You have to appreciate how special the past 6 seasons have been and how so many things came together to make it work as well as it did - I call it the Gestalt effect...Success is not simply predicated on Messi and when there are as many problems as there are atm, Leo isn't merely going to solve everything...The failures of the board et al permeates the club, players & fans...The body language of several against Elche, for example, resembled a defeated lot...The mental aspect of sport is often bigger than the physical/technical

Well done by ESPN, even if I mostly dislike Schaap's style - eery how he riffs off his Dad's...But it was well done, which is a first, for me, to see a US profile on a footballer nevermind Messi that was done with the respect it required...Would've preferred him calling it football to complete his well covered football jargon in the interview...Surprised they didn't show more clips of his D&G persona, American television loves branding like that

Reminder of how lucky we are to have him and that the club better get their shit together and support him better than they have of late
