Messi has a good right foot, Bale's is also all right. You could add Wilshere to that list though.

I'd say their right foot is functional, but it's massively obvious how much they prefer and rely on left (like when Messi often tries to shift to his left foot when preparing to shoot in a 1v1). Messi's right foot is decent enough compared to others simply due to how good he is but in comparison to his left foot, it's very poor. Bale is left foot dominant other than crosses and some finishes from what I see. It's not just about whether they can shoot or pass from that foot but rather how often they shift their balance onto the weak foot or dribble on it (the sort of stuff that makes up about 60% of actions on the ball).

Right footed players tend to be closer to equal on both feet and are willing to shift their game between both (Iniesta, Xavi, Ronaldo, and I could really go on but there are way too many right footed players).

Xavi is 100% one footed. He listed that difficulty with playing his left as one of the things Zidane had over him.

Xavi is 100% one footed.

In terms of passes, he pretty much is always one footed. However he can shift his balance on to his left foot when taking touches into space or doing his Xavi-turns so I'd say he's comfortable with it.

I guess I'm misguiding my perspective. The point was about players who are one-sided dominant (i.e always cutting in or playing onto a single side due to their comfort playing on that particular balance). Left footed players tend to always dominate their game on to their left side even if they are functional passers/shooters with the other foot. Right footed players seem to be more commonly comfortable holding the ball on both sides like Xavi does even if he always uses his right foot to pass.

Guys like Robben and Silva always lean onto their left side and focus their game onto it because they are so poor on their weak side whereas Xavi/Iniesta pretty much have a 360 degree field of play so they are always using both even if they prefer a foot.

Last WC i had very bad feeling about Maradonas Argentina, this year, i have very good feeling, they dont have the best team in sense of balance, but i really see Messi as a standout player this WC. My money is on Argentina anyways.

¡El Mundial ha comenzado! Estoy impaciente por estar en la cancha. ¡Buena suerte a todos mis compañeros del FC Barcelona, pero intenten evitarnos!

The World Cup has started! Can’t wait to be on the pitch. Good luck to all my Barça teammates, but try to avoid playing against us!
