This just feels like one of those games where everything can either come together, or the collapse will be real. So much tension in the air...

If La Liga is so defensive why are Madrid scoring 5 every week? We were awful last season and still scored 100 league goals.

Hopefully it's just a threat to the Spanish government to not single Messi out.

Because Madrid and Barcelona, in an attacking sense at least, are so far ahead of anything in the premier league. I'm a Villa fan and I'd expect us to get pummelled 4-5 were we to play either of the two, same goes for about 15 clubs in that division.

In 2008, say, there were some seriously mean defences in the Premier League.

But now Chelsea is the only team with a very good, battle-tested, defence. There's some funny kamikaze stuff these days

Spain has the best player of all time playing in their league and de facto promoting Spain and they turn this smear campaign on him.
Even if his dad evaded taxes there should be a way to settle it without media getting involved.

He doesn't play for the right club for this to happen.

If we all feel that in order to be successful we need to get the best out of Messi then why would he play on the right?

That feels like an admission that he is not so essential to our success after all.

No I think you are looking at it the wrong way. Suarez will likely do better for us down the middle than on the right. Messi can be nearly just as effective as a hybrid type winger where he starts on the right but also comes into the middle as a number 10. Basically its a case of Getting the most the max combination out of bother players.

Besides Messi is more of a creator now so he's not making as many runs into the box from the middle.

Messi is definitely contemplating leaving, or else all of this stuff wouldn't be talked about at all, spanish media being against him, or spain in general where he should be loved instead of hated, not to mention a board that doesn't protect him, transfer ban...

this is the closest situation where Messi feels like walking out, will he do it? Highly doubt it, I don't really picture being that kind, but he has definitely contemplated the idea of leaving.

* now that I've read what I said, you'd think I know him personally:lol: just a gut feeling I guess:p

he said nothing implying he wants to leave, though. As Mascherano said, the press distorted his words a lot. The guardian piece, for instance, looks just like another "news" to get hits.

Barca is a special case, as we faces a parked bus week in and week out. Not even Real Madrid has that problem, otherwise they wouldn't be able to counter-attack as much as they do..

Yeah you're right, when Leo said he doesn't know what will happen he wasn't talking about what's happening right now, he was implying what will in the future, 4-6 years from now maybe.

Messi has rejected an offer from Real Madrid. They were willing to pay buyout fee. Messi would get 25M net/year plus bonus from Adidas. [md]

Uncle Florentino loves signing Galacticos and Messi is the Galactico of all Galacticos. I'm sure if there even was a slightest of chance of Messi joining Real Madrid, Uncle Flo would bend over and accept any demand just to get him on his team.
