If Argentina somehow doesn't make it to Russia then Messi will be devastated. That is his last chance at any international glory. Hope they qualify.

Argentina will easily make it to the WC.

Need to keep it in perspective a bit. They have have had two games and one bad result. Drawing away to Paraguay is not terrible result.

11 years already :messi1:

I'm sure Messi wouldn't become the player he's today if he'd a manager who's similair to Lucho I think. The Argentine would be ignored and been sold...

They'll finish above Peru, Bolivia and Venezuela easily enough so for a top 5 finish they'd only need to finish above one other. The other teams are strong though.

Messi could rush back for Argentina next month and then get blamed if he doesn't win them both games single handed. If he doesn't go he'll get blamed for not playing.

u on crack mate? 16 yr old messi was still a great player. It doesn't take a genius to see that. Messi would have been in the first team of Barca regardless who the coach was (unless it was Bielsa you can't predict El Loco).

Tbf, Messi was considered as a great player when he was very young.

I'm not sure about it, especially when a certain man named Lucho has 0 faith in players like Samper and Grimaldo.
He didn't rate Adama much either, a player who was a fucking beast in Segunda and deserved to belong in the first team instead of been sold.

It's impossible to ignore the fact that Messi was really lucky to have Rijkaard as his first coach in the first team...

Adama did not deserve to be in the first team squad at all. He is too raw and would piss off the likes of Messi/Neymar/Suarez with his greedy style.

Every Barca manager has had young players they did not quite trust for one reason or another.

Messi is a unique case and was arguably the best player in the team at 16/17. No manager would have ignored him.

Need someone be reminded that Barca signed a 13-year-old Messi from Argentina and took care of his (probably huge) medical expenses? They wouldn't do that for just any kid...

Huge ? It was $1k/month mate, huge for argentina, not for barça.

1k is still big.Back then 1k was worth much more than today and it was on investing on someone who was just a kid.Barca deserves a huge credit in making messi who he is right now.

Not saying otherwise mate, but $1k/month is not huge, it's not even barça's locker genitor's wage probably so not "huge", but great bet indeed, Barça is the best club he could have gone to anyway, at least up until the crooks corrupted us and we now have the same aura as BP.

Lol, no. This is was in the late 90s, not the freaking 60s. Sure they deserve some credit, but nowhere near as much as someone would make it out to be. If he didn't make it here, he would've made it somewhere else. That's how much talent he got. Real Madrid might've offered him the treatment for all we know, bet some would've liked that.
