Sometimes I realize how Messi spoilt many. When the day comes where he leaves the pitch forever plenty people will have a horrible wakeup seeing how easy he made stuff look and how nobody else comes near him
.

Very true but with so many recorded games and goal compilations, will be enjoying his memory for a long time. THANK YOU GOD FOR GIFTING US MESSI

Is there any footage of the benches reaction when the goal went in, or some of the players on the pitch (before they ran to celebrate)?

I've got to imagine there were hands on head.

Could watch that first goal time and time again. Just amazing :worthy:

Now all we need is one of those in the CL final :messi:

It's interesting to watch Suarez on this Messi Four-dribble+wondergoal video. He is waving for the ball but Messi's successful nutmeg and 4th dribble puts him in such good position to shoot that he puts the ball with high precision in the short corner of the goal. Suarez may have helped Messi's goal by distracting the goalkeeper, obstructing his view. Anyway, it was an absolutely unbelievable goal, starting at the halfway line, at the right wing. Only Messi can pull off a thing like that. But give Bilbao credit for not fouling Messi. Juventus will probably stop him by committing a foul, trading a YC for a goal.

This is an overlooked bit of the goal, but Rico Moreno I believe it is, clearly tries take Messi down before he gets into the box, he takes a large kick at his legs, but Messi doesn't flinch. Many would certainly have gone down.

is Messi entering his Prime?

Lord almighty. What a crazy idea... that this guy can have a prime.

I don't know if he's entering his prime, but I do know that DiStefano only joined RM at Messi's actual age... I'm actually still letting that info sink in for a while now

There's no doubt there will be a goat goal, or goat assist in the CL final mate :)

After this match, I remembered a post I made right after Leo's WC final loss. I actually dug through the archive and found it:

At this point, we all feared it was the beginning of the end. A trophyless season and then a tragedy of a WC loss all speckled with lackluster performances and poor fitness. This was Leo's 'rock bottom' as a player and one of the lowest moments for Barca as well. We had very little reason to believe that things would look up in the near future. I actually spent time convincing myself that it was okay and that great things can't always last .

Dig through the archive thread yourself, we all lost our belief to varying extents at this time: http://www.barcaforum.com/showthread.php/11610-10-Lionel-Messi-v3/page672

It's amazing that here we are, not even a year later and Leo is making history like he's 23 or 24 again. What he's done this season is legendary/iconic on so many levels. His matches against City/Bayern/Atleti, his goals in the liga/CDR final, and his demolition as a part of MSN have all been feats that will not be forgotten in football for decades. His first goal in Athletic is top 3 of his career (alongside the Getafe goal and the RM one), I could rank all 3 interchangeably. He's got one more match this year to cement the brilliance even further. We Barca fans are greedy and want Messi to show the world once more what he is capable of vs Juventus. He deserves it after all the suffering in 2014.

If he won a world cup in Brazil he'd have had nothing left to achieve.
