Looked a bit better at the end of the half and he is freeing up a lot of space for his teammates by being marked this heavily. Though, I think we need a completely different Messi in the 2nd half to be able to do this.

If Messi has 3 players marking him, then he is not going to get space. This is why Rafinha and Neymar have acres of space. The problem is Rafinha is not creating anything and cannot go past the first man, so they don't need to mark Rafinha and just park the bus.
