Romario is one of my idols, he not only started his career here in Vasco da Gama, but he also scored his 1000th in our stadium and retired with our colors (not to mention plenty of titles he won for us).

That being said, he is VERY WELL KNOWN here in Brazil for having a "cocky personality", be it about women, football or anything you can imagine. Accordingly to him, god pointed to him when he was born and said: "you're the man".

So, you can NEVER EVER take Romário's statements serious. He, contrary to Pelé, is not getting retarded by being old. He ALWAYS said things like that, just because he is and he projects an image of a bad boy.

Another one like him is "Renato Gaúcho", a Grêmio legend who recently said he was better than Cristiano.

These guys are funny as fuck, if you are used to the way they are.

Romario was probably the best footballer in the world during the period 1992-1994, but as Eto'o said in regard of Ronaldinho, if you love to party, skip training sessions it will eventually get to you as footballer. Romario is no exclusion from this rule.

Last year Messi usually just sat deep and played through balls and yet he still managed 40+ goals. It's unfortunate that Suarez's form has gone to shit recently and he has the burden of creating and scoring now.
