Ronaldo's just sewn up another Ballon d'Or, regardless of what happens now.

The media will look at the goals, the crucial stage they have come in, and the trophies won. It's genuinely sad how he's caught up.

Switch Messi to Madrid and Ronaldo to Barca and we would be out of the top 4 in the league, knocked out of both cups and devoid of any attacking prowess going forward, whereas Madrid would be 15 + points clear at the top and would be cruising to the treble.

Messi has been carrying this team to respectability this season, masking all our problems, if he was out, the true flaws of this team would be exposed in full light for the world to see. This upcoming summer transfer window will determine whether or not we see any European success for the next decade or so.

The man can't do it all by himself and he is not young anymore, turning 30 in a month.

Pretty much this, anytime he is switched off and not being in the mood to play and we don't have Neymar then we're screwed.

Well, look at the value of their squad compared to ours. The gap is massive. Their squad depth is insane. They can sell their bench players for hundreds of millions if they want to. For years they've been investing in some of the best players in the world in their early 20s. They almost never buy players older than 25 and look for value in the market. A long term strategy regardless of who their coach is. With years of following that strategy, they have amassed a formidable squad with a lot of depth and value.

And just like that, wow can't believe he actually tied that 5-5 balon dor record. Its depressing to think how people hundreds of years later will 100% think he was better than Messi because of the trophies. Just look at RM, their 2nd team is pretty much as good as their first team, which is literally top 3 in the world. If our crooked board wasn't just straight up garbage, even calling them garbage seems an understatement, Messi wouldn't have to carry every single game, recieve some support from his team and make new records happen, the fact that he has to play with Roberto on his right wing, Gomes on his left is just pathetic.

Best part about it is that their model is so sustainable on both a sporting and financial level.

Even if they can't keep guys like Isco, Morata, James etc...they can sell them for 50m+ in the current market and invest all of that into younger top level talents.

Incredible business on their part.

Yep. Cristiano is the Balon d'Or winner again.

I mean 2 consecutive hattricks in CL QF and SF respectively? That's some serious shit. He may have been invisible all year but that's all what people will remember, unfortunately.

Messi needs to get that goddamn national team trophy (Copa America the more doable one). Ronaldo can't be seriously considered in the same league as him and with the equal Ballon D'ors it will be tough.

This is exactly it.

While we made long terms contracts to players like Mathieu and Turan :bartomeu:

Watching Asensio today( and pretty much anytime he plays for them) and then remembering we wasted money on Douglas makes my blood boil everytime. We have prime Messi being forced to play with the likes of Gomes and Paco while CR's bench includes Isco and Asensio.

This board is to blame for that.

Cristiano won the award with even less contribution last year. Yeah, he won two trophies, but was nearly invisible in both tournaments.

True. Fucking French players, man. That final should have been 2 or 3-0 and it ended with a ridiculous goal form Portugal. So goddamn lucky! If Ronaldo didn't have the Euro in his hands it would have been harder to give him the Ballon
