I knew Messi would struggle today since he played a great match against celtic .. i'm disappointed in Leo because he could have done better .. this match is difficult , he should have maintained the ball a bit more instead of playing directly like usual .. we lacked the possession and only he could have helped our miserable midfield to get a hold of the ball .. he didn't and went for the usual stuff which resulted some attack-exchange we are simply not ready for. anyway i'm sure he's charged up for Real Madrid .. i have a huge faith in him next sunday

We are having a bit of a problematic situation, Messi this season plays really close to the goal and as a CF more than the last 2 seasons, but it leaves Suarez sort of at the right wing and out of the game,
Of course messi is the most efficient scorer ever, but he is also the greatest chance creator, and while we have no midfield there is no choice he has to step backwards and play the role he played last season,
Leo is my favorite player ever and i'm happy while he scores more than anyone else but we need him at the midfield and Suarez as the finisher, maybe then things can get better until we get our midfield back,
And Suarez back on form, that is the reason he had a weak game but its still unbelievable that the only chance he had he scored with such an ease, still the GOAT of course.

Leo needs to drop deeper to collect the ball because apparantly none of our midfielders can bring the ball forward at the moment.

It's been the same for ages now, not just at the moment. He's getting crowded out because he's Barca's only threat, just like Argentina.

That should NOT be the case with Suarez and Neymar on the team. But with a nonexistent midfield, it makes sense why that's a problem. Once we face heavy pressure, we can't retain the ball.

Suarez has been nonexistent for a while now too. Neymar isn't a goal scoring threat for a long time now although he is still a threat in terms of generatng attacks. The midfield is just pathetic. Backline is just bad. Pretty much everyone is out of form or not at their best form but Messi. Recipe for disaster.

Never thought I'd see this. Messi playing with a worse mid-field in Barcelona than Argentina NT.

I don't think Messi's positioning issue. He had Alves and Rakitic, in far better days, to combine with last season.

One sad but plausible thing to say is that there are very good chances IMHO that the current Qatar-version of Xavi is superior to the Rakitic and Gomes of yesterday against Sociedad. I can't remember Barca playing in a so mediocre fashion. Even in the 4-0 loss against Bayern that was high quality football we displayed. We should feel really really lucky that Barca made a draw.

I hope Lucho will have the courage to set-up a more vertical playing style à la Bilbao under Bielsa. It's crystal clear that without Iniesta, neither Rakitic, nor Gomes and Suarez are fit for the job of steering the midfield.

I believe that you either have to come from La Masia or be an extraordinary talent to play as a midfielder at Barca with Pep's core philosophy without Iniesta. I still have hope for Rafinha and, yes call me crazy, Sergi Roberto for our midfield. I found Roberto very promising back in the days of Guardiola.

Messi is brilliant as a midfielder but it would more harm him and the team, on a long run, to have hime there rather than as a false winger" I believe.

I am now seriously thinking that Verratti could actually give us a breath of fresh air.

Messi plays as F9 this season, right side is often empty without support and Suarez can't play there. Switch to 3-4-3 would at least give us control in midfield.

It is not a false nine if an actual striker is playing. This season he is a number 10, but it is not working so far.

Honestly, I don't see Suarez is playing. It's like we have a man down.

Btw, Leo didn't train today, had stomach problems...
