It's worrying he doesn't even deny leaving in media. Normally players at least say that. Maybe he is leaving. That would be devastating.

Indeed. If he really had signed the contract and only some formalities were left as barto said then he would have at least said the same in the media that he will stay here.

Maybe he does want to leave.

I can't say I blame him. Barcelona is a mess, City and the team at the moment. Situation sucks.

You're welcome
lol...at you guys panicking. It was an Argentinian press conference, so why would he address his Barca situation over there. The reason he mentioned Newell's is because a reporter outright asked him if he was still thinking about returning to Newell's one day. Messi provided the standard P.C. answer.

i don't think he'll leave but hes definitely entertaining the idea and i don't blame him. the worry is with PSG seemingly escaping any kind of puinishment for their spending spree, City will likely say fuck it aswell, shackles off.

Messi is probably waiting to see what we do in the January window. give him a world class player or atleast show some ambition and he'll likely sign the contract.

Its still worrying. He could easily say fck it a d sign for free with any team he wants in january. And you cant blame him either since he is carrying dead weight here. There are 3 possible scenario’s that could happen.
1. He renews
2. He leaves for another top club in Europe (which could only be city at this point).
3. He leaves for Newells after the world cup.

It would be way too soon but dont forget Messi has already won everything. His wife is pregnant again and he might be bored with the whole thing and want to relax in Argentina for 4+ years before retiring.
I think he will renew as well but its worrying that he hasnt so far.

It's worrying. Everybody knows things are not great at Barcelona atm (club wise). Players who leave complain about the management. Messi not renewing is a very bad sign. Why would he leave Barcelona? He has a great salary, living there for 15 years, a family settled down, kids who have friends also, a nice city, good weather etc? You only leave such a great situation if you are really not comfortable anymore and things are making you unhappy.

If like Neymar they double the already ridiculous amount of cash they get , he will be gone.

A competitive team on the rise to win more trophies and the best manager in the world.
Also, new is always better. Its not impossible to see him move there for 3 years and then to newells.
It would ruin us though, so I hope we renew and get players so we can win one more cl and a few liga’s.

You really think bad of him if you think he'd go there. He will go to Newell's and nowhere else. You can take that to the bank.

I still maintain that if Messi doesn't sign that contract now during the international break then he has no intention of doing so. It's come to the time where Barcelona are going to have to be insistent on it due to the amount of time before he can openly negotiate with other clubs... What's it now? 7 weeks and some change...

If the international break has come and gone without that signature, I will be preparing for life without Messi as sad as that may be.

Regarding Messi not being a gloryhunter... That may be true but, him being 30 and this being his last lucrative deal, being a free agent comes with many benefits. He could be in for an astronomical sign up bonus as well as incredible wages. He'd be stupid not to at least consider it.

So guys like Puyol, Maldini, Totti, Simeone are stupid?

Thought the word was integrity and loyalty.

I didn't say that and their situations have nothing to do with Messi's current situation.

You wanna talk integrity and loyalty? Integrity would be signing a deal you've already agreed to and loyalty would be showing that you want to be here. I've seen neither!
