When they were comfortably packed down, he did the only thing he could. Drew a lot of blue shirts towards him with close control and then played it off so others could try and create something with the space he gave them.
He also received the ball a few times when they were still unorganized from a previous attack, though. Even though Kante was on him like a hawk in those situations, I wish he would have just tried something more.
In any case, 4-4-2 is pretty useless on counters with only one Suarez to pass to, which is so easy to anticipate and shut down.
