I got a question guys, how are you feeling about Messi being our captain (leader), knowing he hardly runs - works hard when he is off the ball?

I feel fine with him being barça's captain and i don't see the correlation between running or not and being the captain or not.

A captain to me, is someone who goes in front and sets an example for the rest of the team. Don't get me wrong, I love Messi to death, but he kinda sends the wrong vibe - like he isn't playing for the team, but the team is playing for him. As a captain, I feel you can't do that.

He's Barca captain for me. Has 550 goals and 250 assists for us, is the only remaining figure from the Rijkaard era, has bailed us out/put us over the top time and time again in decisive matches/big matches.
also fact that he's gone through both the joyous peaks (pep era, 2015 MSN) and struggling lows (key figures/legends departing over the years) makes it fitting that he gets the mantle now.
he hasn't been a great/good captain for argentina but we shouldn't conflate argentina messi for barca messi.

no chance. MaTS just established himself as a top class GK for barca THIS season. there is no way he commands same level of respect in the barca locker room compared to someone who has been a starter since 2005 and is by a landslide the club's ever player.

Rakitic is not a bad shout, but i think messi should be the barca captain. masche should have been captain for argentina but in barcelona, everybody looks up to Messi to lead them and that is good enough for me.

I don't mind him being captain but Messi needs to show he cares. At times in Ucl exits he looks like he's at a training session and doesn't really care.

You're giving too much importante to an armband. A talkative guy will be talkative with/out an armband and a quiet guy will be quiet with/out it. Maybe in the past being a captain would make more sense, because the captain was suppose to be the only to talk to the referee (at least in Brazil it was like that).
Nowadays pretty much every player talks to their teammates and express feelings during a game. And probably everyone in the team knows who's the guy to look when things get tough. When Puyol was the captain commanding the team, if you gave the armband to anyone in Pep's team wouldn't change anything because he was the guy leading the team, telling other players what to do/where to go. Messi still would be the man to give the ball in difficult games.
Another example is that Messi is the captain in Argentina but he's not the moral leader, he's the technical leader, so Mascherano is the guy giving orders. Switch the armband to Masch and he will still be the guy telling people what to do and Messi will be still the technical leader.

you need to have a voice on the pitch. Messi does not have it.
Captain needs to be Rakitic or Umtiti.
