He isn't playing very well lately but considering everything going around his life (tax issue, criticism in Brazil, weight of responsibility, match time/tiredness, etc.) I don't think it's not to be expected. He's a very electric player and will soon regain form to be one of our key contributors.

Lucho is the one telling Neymar to hold the ball so long and do all that
This. It's quite clear to me that Lucho has him playing a creative role, someone to unlock defenses by running across the box and find key passes and take less shots. I could be wrong.

I remember months ago when Messi tore Bolivia apart and this forum went mental about his performance even though it wasn't a Barcelona match (and some of the users say that they are here just because they are barcelona fans and not player fanboy lmao).
Yesterday Neymar did very much better than Messi against the same bolivian side and not a single fuck was given, the usual suspects will come here soon and say that Bolivia is Mickey Mouse team and they don't give a fuck because it wasn't a Barcelona match.

Bolivia is a Mickey Mouse team, there you go.

Anyway, I didn't watch the match, and when you posted this I wanted to see his individual highlights video on Youtube.
Before I have opened a video, my prediction was in my head:
Let's see:
1. Neymar lately gets deep to get the ball in Barca.
In Brasil, where he is a one man show, he will do that thing all the time probably.
2. Neymar lately hogs the ball for 10-20 seconds for no reason each time when he gets the ball in Barca.
Since in Brasil he is the leader, he will probably do even more of that crap.
3. Neymar lately tries to dribble past 2-3-4 defenders all the time, and thus he slows down the game all the time with unneeded tricks and dribbles (hear, hear: dribbles in general are NOT a bad thing, but if you try to attempt a dribble EVERY SINGLE TIME when you get the ball, well, then you are an idiot and you are ruining a flow of your team)
4. there will be some diving and fouls on him, and he'll probably get involved in at least one fight with an opponent

Now, let's check the video and see whether Neymar will fulfill my prediction:

So, in 11 minutes of his individual actions, he scored a nice goal and had 2 assist.
While these stats are awesome (even though I am not sure how strong is Bolivia), in other actions he lost more or less EVERY SINGLE BALL, or at least ruined an action with slowing down, dribbling, doing unneeded tricks etc.
Plus, we have seen tons of ballhogging, dribbling backwards, diving for no reason, fighting with random opponents, fighting with a referee.

I am one of the bigger Ney-haters on this forum, but I will admit that I didn't expect him too play this badly this soon.
This match is more or less the same as Monchengladbach:Barca (except that probably Bolivia is way less organized in defense and more naive).
Neymar lost 16 balls against Gladbach and assisted for a win in the end.
Against Bolivia, the same. He is losing the ball after ball.
In the end he scores or makes an assist, but at least in my eyes: losing 10 balls and making 1 assist/goal is not a good ratio.
It is the same as having 10 sitters, scoring 1-2 goals and missing 8-9 easy chances and say: but I have scored 2 key goals!!

If Neymar will play this way for Barca (ballhogging, showboating, trick after trick, dribbling all the time, dribbling backwards, overcomplicating every action), we will have insane problems in the future.

About him fighting with opponents in more or less every match nowadays, that is not even a news anymore.

For the end, imo, Neymar has gone totally "Hollywood-way", with tricks over everything and tricks at all costs lately.

I don't ever want to 'hate' on a player who wears the shirt of my team, but as every supporter of any team is entitled to an opinion, I feel like this:

Neymar plays as if all eyes are on him, and he 'must' do/perform things to regain or continue the hype around him, so he hogs the ball when a defender is grappling with him, and tries a trick, or he makes himself centre of attention by arguing with referees and playing 'victim' when he gets tackled badly. However, lets face it, if you have a guy acting like such a **** on the field and you are marking him, you surely will eventually kick out, or take him down. Football is not a woman's game.

Stats aside, as they are clearly deceiving, he has been absolutely dreadful since his return IMO. I know he's still 24, but his lack of maturity is what is most frustrating to me, since I'd love for him to reach his heights. Messi approached his career a completely different way, which meant, he was a team player, AND an incredible one off individual. He played with elegance, and class, but again, MATURITY. However, Neymar isin't and never will be Messi.

Neymar seemingly is becoming more and more individualistic, and this IS going to hurt us if it doesn't change.

I honestly believe he'll leave this club within the next 3-4 years, and I can't say personally I'll miss him all that much.

I do still hope he can turn around his form for us this year!

He need someone like Puyol to slapp him and learn him how to be a man and not such a pu**y. He has a great talent but he dives too much and has a big mouth and I hate that. Stop doing it for god's sake!!!

He got a yellow and will miss the game against Venezuela. He posted on SnapChat he was going home but for all we know home could just be Sao Paulo. Would be nice if he came back early to Barcelona though.

Wash your mouth, I love him!

I hate people attacking others on personal level and telling them to "fuck off" though.

Anyone with a problem?
