When do we play the first leg of QF??? This is horrible! Even if he returns on time he won't be in proper shape. Constant hamstring injuries are really causing huge problems in his development.

He has basically been injured 1/2 seasons he has been with us. As much as it hurts to say this, maybe we should consider other options.

9/10 April: Quarter-finals, first leg.
So he will be very much in doubt for that one.
Second leg is 16/17 April, he will be back there.

It's maddening that we have to miss him one more time, because he was brought back too early. Valverde seems to gamble in the wrong way: Play Dembele at risk of injury instead of going with a more attacking style from the beginning of the second half. Now we pay for that. Silver lining could be Coutinho getting his breakthrough, no excuses anymore, he needs to score/assist the next couple of games.

Can't really call him injury prone for that, under normal circumstances he probably would've stayed on the bench yesterday and had enough time to fully recover. But the situation was dangerous so we had to risk him to finish Lyon off, and that worked just as intended.

Too injury prone for my liking. Same reason I would pass on bale and robben if offered to us. Ronaldo wouldn't be half as good if he was injury prone what good is a player who only plays half a season?

Yeah, fuck his hamstring and impact his whole career to finish off Lyon. It was a good sub but that if risk had been that high, he should have not been in the squad at all.

Well, as a French fan I love them both. But Dembele was the one warming the bench while Mbappe was staring for France and became one of the main reasons France won.

If Barcelona could swap Dembele with Mbappe, they'd do that in a heartbeat.

You forgot to mention the part where Dembele spent most of the season injured and unable to get a consistent run of form. It should come of no surprise that he wasn't in full form when he went to that tournament.

On form, there is no comparison. I'd take Dembele any day of the week over the hype machine, dawg.

It wasn't even recoverd from another injury and now out for a month or so in this crucial part of the season? Fuck this shit.

By fully fit I obviously meant getting medical clearance to play. Should have been obvious.

If that is the case there is no way that he should NOT start. If not, there is no point in even attempting to risk him by having him on the bench. We should be beating Lyon without him at home without much trouble. If we go out it won't be because Dembélé did not play but due to the entire collective (team) having an off-day. That or Lyon being phenomenally good or extremely lucky like in the first leg.

Yes, we agree.

I mean if he is fully fit, he should obviously start. If not, there is no point risking him. Hamstring injuries can become very bothersome if not treated correctly and if not given the time to heal. Basically all of Dembélé's injuries so far (there have been 5 since he joined us) have been muscle injuries or that raptured tendon injury that he suffered from initially and which kept him out for 4+ months in total.

If he is almost 100% fit and there is little chance of a recurring hamstring injury, I would put him on the bench and only sub him in if we were in trouble which we hopefully won't be.

No, Valverde might tell us something during the presser today but I doubt that he will tell much. Might keep his status as a secret but given that hamstring injuries, even light ones, usually take longer than 4 days, I don't see him being fully fit and in such a case I would prefer not to risk him at all.

As fucking written. Now injured for 1 month and going to miss the CL quarter-finals. Great. Imbecile Malmierda and our staff must have brains the size of peanuts. Malcom playing (the same guy that scored 4 goals in 4 games against Lyon in his career) against a bang average Lyon team at home would have been too "risky". Better risk the long-term health of an actually injured KEY player.:facepalm:

Really dumb decision.

Anyways I expect him to be back before the CL quarters and IF we get an accessible team ...he could rest for the first leg.
