There hasn't been any updates since early this morning. Either the deals have stalled or it's just a matter now of working out the payment options etc.

The problem with the complaint on overspending is that you have to consider the situation we are in.

There will always be the opportunity to conduct 'Umtiti' or 'Ter-Stegen' like deals in the future. Right now we have been significantly weakened by the Neymar loss, have 3 weeks until the start of the season and are sitting on a mountain of cash.

The best decision right now is to spend it and get the players our manager wants to salvage our season. Even if that means paying ridiculous fees.

Maybe both clubs are just taking some time off to think about. We gave them our offer, Dortmund said what they want and now they'll take some hours or a day or two before they continue to negotiate. That's usually how negotiations works. Yes, we don't have a lot of time but it's not like transfer window closes today so I think both sides are still talking in a pretty normal way.

I believe Sanllehi&Co. are still in Dortmund as it most likely would've been reported if they would come back to Barcelona (or go to Liverpool). Not that I believe anything that Catalan media reports but they would probably have some pictures of them at the airport to prove that.

Don't know if our people are still in Liverpool. If they even went there yesterday as it was first reported but then media changed their story that they have gone to Germany first. Sources close to LFC said that we didn't make our second offer yet so it's possible that's true. But that doesn't mean we were not in contact with them over the last days.

Anyway, I believe we are much closer to get Dembele than Coutinho. And if I had to choose between them I'd select Dembele. I think we have a good alternative for Coutinho in Seri who's waiting for our offer. Yeah, I know most people see him more in "Xavi role" but I think he could play in Iniesta position alongside Rakitić/Roberto if we don't get Coutinho.

I've never seen Seri play before. Is he really any good? Potentially a talent we'd regret missing out on when he's bossing it for PSG/Bayern and becomes a pipe dream one day down the line?

I haven't either, but this is the best image I've seen summing him up. This is Seri's 16/17 season compared to Xavi's 10/11 season. League games only though.

He's an interesting player for sure, but a risk in the sense that he is 26 years old and just blew up last season.

Better than nothing at this point imo.

Looks like he'd be a solid addition, but doesn't seem to be a must buy. I'll still hope for Coutinho but if he doesn't come, Seri seems like he'll do fine.

Like I said earlier out of pure desperation if the Coutinho deal falls through I can see us willing to pay what Dortmund really wants.

Market is broken.
