How are things looking? Last time I've checked we were 8 points ahead of RM. Absolutely no need to rush Dembele. Let him build match fitness and integrate him slowly to the team.

I'm not suggesting that he be rushed back but the points difference is about the good thing about this Barcelona now. The rest is a complete shit show and demonstrates just how much we've regressed since the early games...

What is shit show? Alba, Umtiti, Iniesta, Ter Stegen, Busquets, Messi?

Everyone wanted Denis to start and we sucked until Valverde switched things and got him off. Even Suarez scored when many of you didn't see us win at Ceramica. Without Iniesta and Umtiti too.

How did we play?

We got lucky with that sending off otherwise it was heading for another points drop... Denis also wasn't the issue. 92% passing accuracy, 2 key passes, 1 shot, some dribble attempts which mostly failed, won 60% of his duels and drew fouls... He, Alba, Busquets and Messi were the only players driving the game forward... Paulinho and Rakitic were nowhere.

Some of you just look at the result and say good stuff. If we play in that manner against Madrid we'll get a proper walloping. Did you see how all over the place we were on the counter?

Football isn't all about results to be honest. This type of tactics won't last and wouldnt be very effective. We definitely got lucky with the red, the stats have shown our chances and shots skyrocketed after the 60th minute right after the red card. The number of chances we conceded looks terrible as well, even one looked terrifying similar to the Valencia goal. Theres still certain issues on the squad: especially when Roberto plays RB. We are looking for draws and depending on referees to decide the outcome of the game. This shouldnt be the case.

Maybe he's waiting for someone like dembele who defenders might give 2 flying fucks about instead of 'oh its the touchline, cross now' Deulofeu

Dont necessarily have to play Delofeu and his players selection for 442 shows he's tactically inept. Roberto can be a midfield/winger hybrid, play Semedo to cover for the 2 CBs and send Alba upfront. Roberto and Semedo will link up better with their pace.

The referee didnt decide the game. He did exactly what is to be expected of him. If the opposition cant defend without assaulting our players, they deserve what they get.

Yep, they were clearly instructed to play rough with Busi, they were fouling him all night long.

Did we look like scoring prior to the sending off? They carved out better chances until then...

My commentator argued that the red card didn't make much of a difference for Villareal defensively since the player that got sent off remained higher up the pitch anyways.

Did the red card help? yeah but to be fair when Denis was subbed off and Paco was subbed on we instantly saw a dramatic improvement as his movement and linkup with Suarez caused Havoc in the box. not only that Villarreal were leaving Alba so much space allowing him to link up with Messi way to easily.

Felt like it was a matter of time before we scored tbh even before the sending off IMO.
