In one of his worst performances (still quite good though) against Chelsea he had 86% pass accuracy and won two aerial duels, also limited alonso's impact. If rakitic didn't take ten years to pass the ball he may have had more room to work his one two's with Messi and make his way into the box

He did not limit Alonso's impact at all, and one of the reasons Rakitic struggled is because Paulinho was jogging on the other side of the field or in the middle instead of helping him out. 86% passing accuracy while almost only passing backwards is not that great.
