Best game in a Barca jersey from him. Looks like his shoes got sorted out. Looked composed and confident moving forward and also tried some good linkup plays. Hope he keeps it up, we would need it against Chelsea.

Guys Dembele needs to play.. are y'all blind? It's a question.. The coach is just a coward to not play 433 bc as someone said (not mentioning names) we need workhorse.. stupid.. when Neymar was here we didn't have work horse and we were still fine.. it boils down to the coach to play a 433...Can't u see this???

Improved a bit, still no where near enough. He still needs to gauge the success-risk better before attempting a dribble especially when he is not in the final third, when it is not allowed to loose the ball. Also he needs to be more agressive. When gomes fouled malaga's player he was 2 meters away just watching the action like a ref. And finally the elephant in the room, his shooting. Looks like his right leg is a bit stronger, although less accurate. Whatever leg suits him he needs to shoot more to be more productive. Assisting is not enough, we have too many cooks in the team, what we need more are murderers. Prime example is Suarez, 100 times less dexterous, 100 times more important.

I don't understand this... let me ask u a question.. how many times did Neymar lose the ball? I'll wait..

I truly hope that he turns out to be this assists making & space opening machine, but I just cannot see it. It takes very little for a magician to show his true potential, and Dembele at best is a Di Maria or one of those late 90s early 2000 Dutch wingers. He can be very useful indeed, but not 100+ million for sure (50 millions max in today's inflated prices while we risk betting on potentials that might not be tapped into)

Well it looks like we clearly have a psychic in the chat cuz clearly you can see the future

Well he played 4-3-3 against a team that's dead last and Dembele still didn't score. Happy lol?

And what's your point? There are many ways to influence a game without scoring.. I'm sure you're smart enough to know this... Ronaldo can score a tap in for RM but doesn't mean he did shit all game.....get it..?

The 433 needs to be played consistently.. that's our identity

If we had Neymar we would still be playing it.

Even Pep deviated occasionally to play 3-4-3

We made history just now for having the best defence in Barcelona history with the least goals conceded ever, maybe w dahoudk gove the coach a chance to show us he knowledge what he's doing.

I expect Dembele to score, I expect midfielders to have a influence on the game without having to score, but a level a winger Dembele has multiple roles and a key one is scoring. Coutinho has done it twice now

Sorry to poop the party: Yes, Dembele did good but he also lost the ball 8 times in first 30mins. And only reason he got that much opportunities to risk and time on the ball was because Messi wasn't there.

I am perfectly ready to chalk it up to initial nervousness but truth needed to be said.

he can afford to lose the ball vs teams from the bottom, where his team mates will get it back, but since he is shit at defending, losing that amount of ball vs top teams is dangerous, so he still should not have place in the first 11
Vs CL teams

He doesnt usually pass back or sideways, he's a risk taker in more advanced postitions, trying to create chances, which is why he lost so many balls. Can be improved after more grinding and consistent game time. Not much of a big deal.

Ultimately, even with Messi, Dembele stretches the defence because opponents have to stop his dangerous passes and can create tons of space for him.

"Losing the ball 8 times"? He was only dispossessed 2 times, the rest were probably dribbles that arent successful and some bad touches. Overall wise, he still had a good percentage 5/8 dribbles, 7/13 duels and 80% pass percentage, 4 key passes, 1 chnace created. A few risky decisions that got cut out doesnt necessarily represent his whole performance. If that's the case, Messi has a lot more "lost balls" than any other player in the team but in the end, it's his overall ratio that reflects more accurately.

And yes, Coutinho was dispossessed 5 times.

When there is room between the opposing defense and midfield line his game is on. Had a quite good game and showed some of the things he did in Dortmund and the reason why Robert was a fan of him from day one. Gave away many easy balls though. However, he is young and has time to fix that.

Don't see him starting vs Chelsea. He will be a great option when Chelsea needs a goal and starts attacking more and more in 2nd half.

Yeah, he lost the ball more than he should, but I felt his balance between dribbling, holding up the ball and passing it instantly looked better last night. Hopefully it's a sign of him slowly getting how he needs to play, if he's to succeed here. All in all, much more positives than negatives can be drawn from that game.

Yea. He got that balanced right in this game. Most of the balls he lost were in a period in the first half. There were like 15-20 mins. where he lost the ball quite a lot, but as match continued, he took better decisions.

What’s this fuss about wingers losing the ball? All of them do... Neymar is losing the ball more than ever at this stage of his career. Messi does too all the time. Suárez also needlessly gave up possession with his dummies.

Furthermore, Coutinho lost the ball more than anyone yesterday. Why is a fuss being made here and not in that thread?

Dembélé has a way to go, yes, but this nitpicking is fucking ridiculous. Coutinho scored a goal yes, but once AGAIN, Dembélé was the more dangerous player.

When he is bad criticise him but don’t nitpick. Because he had a good game now the focus seems to be being critical on minute details. Like slipping once for example. Umtiti also slipped ffs.

Exactly. If the majority of his drives are successful, who cares if he has a few missteps. This obsession with perfection is going to ruin some of these guys football watching experience.
