His ball control is godly for a player so young. Exceptional talent, 100m very well invested.

Errr, no. Godly was Messi at 19, Dembele has done nothing so far too suggest his ball control is out of this world good. Posts like that just add unnecessary expectancy on the kids shoulders

Valverde too afraid to play 4-3-3

Really frustrates me, this. I mean, I assumed 442 was a short term fix, and tbf it's enabled us to get results though at a cost of control/entertainment/philosophy. But long term it's not a viable plan I don't believe; yeah sure we beat Chelsea but not with any control (despite what scoreline suggests); and only because they made mistakes. Which is basically Valverde's tactics: passive, and hope they fuck up or Messi does something brilliant. That's no long term plan for me. And it sure as hell isn't a Barca plan.

Yeah, let's play 4-3-3 to accommodate one guy.

Suarez, Messi, Coutinho, Busi, Rakitic... everyone is comfortable with 4-4-2.

Barca have amongst the best posession stats, goal stats and goals conceded stats.

This idea that Barca have given up control/entertainment/philosophy is massively overplayed.

It is nothing even close to 'passive football and hope Messi wins it'.

Barca today played some of the best football any side in europe can play in that first half yet all people seem to want to concentrate on is the second half when game won.

Valverde plays attacking football and is prepared to manage games more than likes of Pep was and mostly due to not having the same players.

Funny thing is we’re playing 4-4-2 to accommodate one guy too... Suárez.

Barca looked great the first half, not sure how anyone can be anything but excited about that display. Dembele was also very, very good. He was subbed early second half, when we looked like shit...but how was that his fault. A bit confused by some of you.

Bilbao started pressing high and our midfield once again got ran over and couldn't cope with it. We lost control and couldn't link defense to attack. This has been happening all season though, even when Busquets is included in the lineup.

We have possession only when the other team lets us have it. Away from home especially we cede control of games time and again, sitting in, hoping to counter. Look, I'm delighted that we're going to (hopefully) win the league, especially considering the low expectations coming into the season, but beyond being pleased as a fan, there's been very little to enjoy in terms of entertainment/aesthetics. Which is why when we have a first half like today, which was so fluid and exciting, am I so disillusioned when Valverde basically has us sit in safety first at the Nou camp against a Bilbao side with nothing to play for.

Not really. Works for everyone. Even Busi who never under no manager looked good with another DM. We have more stability and don't look disjointed like last 3 years.

Barca basically stopped in the second half it was completely obvious to how the approach changed.

It is not just to accommodate Suarez.

Yes it is. Because all season everybody has been playing outiside of their best positions. Iniesta, Paulinho, Gomes as wide midfielders even though they’re central players. Busquets in a double pivot. Messi deeper.

When it became evident that Suárez stank up the place on the left the system was quickly changed.
